overly aggressive slugs snails

This season is turning into a total disaster due to all the non stop rain which is causing slugs to destroy my projects.

Doing alot of seed planting on site using plastic cups for protection, combined with copper wire rings, big piles of napa 8822 D.E. around the plant, D.E. power on top of that, beer cups all over, slug magic death crystals and still my garden is getting devoured.

Whats really crazy is the slugs are all over the pile of wet DE just loving crawling in it Way more than the dirt near by. They are definitely attracted to it.

Only thing I can think of is spraying the area with copper solution....

Currently wondering if slugs love or hate neem ?

HELP !!!

I've noticed the same on my plants as of late (east coast). Was wondering about neem myself, never had to do much for bugs.

One thing I've done when they're young to protect them from slugs is cutting a beer can in half so its a ring, cut slits in the top and bend them down so nothing can crawl over it to the stem if that makes sense.... can kinda see it on the right...
dont know how to make it bigger https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=62116&pictureid=1464904

How are they getting past the copper wire?

I wouldn't spray copper anywhere near as it's toxic to plants!

Would a mini electric fence be practical for you? That would be my "last resort" solution.

Thankfully I've been pretty much been able to keep them at bay here this year using just organic slug pellets. Sounds like it's really bad where you are - hope you manage to find a solution!

Either slug pellets like neongreen used or....

One time I put seeds that were popping in a CD case outside. 2hours later I checked them and they were all eaten.

One time I put 20 pretty big seedlings out there, they all ended up nubs in two days eaten by slugs.

Then I put chili powder circles around them and planted in the ground. Nothing ate them.

If you search google "chili powder slugs" you'll see many people find success with this method.

Also coffee grounds. I tried using them around my tobacco plants which were being attacked by slugs a few days back, and they seem to be working very well. :tiphat:

i think the DE has got to stay dry for it to work. when it gets wet its useless is my understanding. i bought some garlic powder and red hot chili peppers and i encircled a few of my plants and the ones that i didnt encircle with this mix had a few snails on them.
I read slugs don't cross lime. Every spot I limed has no slug problems. Try that.
i got a 50lb bag of lime i will try that as well thanks

Slugs love beer. Invert jar lids or any shallow container, bury up to the rim in the soil, fill w/ beer. leave overnight. Dump lids filled w/ dead slugs the next day. Keep doing it.

Not for seldom visited guerrilla grows, but it works great for tended gardens.
