outsides of the leaves curling upward?

I have some clones that are a week old in my TAG setup (true aeroponic type setup). They had nice roots showing when I got them and now the roots are dangling outside the netpots. What does this mean? The ppm is 850 currently, which may be a bit high. The clones are about 5-6" high already. They were pretty big when I got them so I went a little stronger than usual with the nutes.

You got any pictures? How is your aero setup?

They will normally grow roots down and they end up being in the res, is this what you are talking about?
I need more grow information; but pics would help out a ton too.

HYDROPONICS/Aero Ponics

What STRAIN are you growing?
What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
How tall are the plants?
What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using?
What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)
What is the Water temperature?
What Nutrient's are you using? How much of each if using multiple?
What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using?
What is the pH of the "Tank"?
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equiptment?
When was your last watering?
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional)
What size bulb are you using?
What is the distance to the canopy?
What is your RH Factor?
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When?
Are plant's infected with pest's[/b]

Condition of the roots is important- healthy roots are white and appear clean.
The leaf-edge issue is something else entirely- how close are your lights, and what sort of lights are they? Are they air- cooled? Do you have a reading on the temps at the canopy?

Outside edges of leaves curlin up is a sign of heat stress, your roots will grow out the side of the net pot, that is normal in a hydro system. If you dont have a fan between your lamps and the top of the canopy, then you should put on there to gently move the air around, and also think about raising your lights. The roots however will not grow up to the plant and out. Your ppm's should be in the 400-600 range for a few days and then bump'd up to something like 800-900. They both could be tied to each other if your conditions are right.....I think that your getting the curl cause of the nutes, but some pics would be good.

Other than that everything is going to be a guess until you can give some more info, fill out stitch's form and get a couple pics posted.

HI guys. the condition that I'm wordering about is the outer edges of the leaves curling upward. I was just mentioning the roots to say that they look like they're doing good/normal.

Temps at the canopy are pretty much in check at this point. They are high 70's during the first 12 hours of lights on and for the last 6 hours, in the low 70's. The coldest that the clones get during lights out is bout 68.

However, they did get up to the mid 80's without c02 on a couple occasions last week during the warmer part of the lights on phase. I'm since cranked up the fans and it's currently 77.5* in there.

I'm currently using a 250 metal halide light with a oscillating fan blowing on the glass of it. It is not aircooled. I am also supplementing (for what it's worth) with a led light. I'm not sure that it's doing much at this point but doesn't cost barely anything for the electric it uses.

I bought some new nutes from Advanced Nutrients. I bought their 3 part line and will be treating my r/o water with sinsi cal. Hopefully things will be on the up and up from here on out.

My tag system is in an 12 gallon rubbermaid style container. Fluid is pumped out, through a shurflo 60 psi pump, then through a 40micron filter and then to about 8 high pressure 1ghp mist nozzles. The pump comes on for 30 seconds every 40 minutes. There are also air bubblers in the res.

The roots on my clones are exploding. Once the clones are good enough height, I'm going to toss them into ebb and flow buckets and toss them into flower.

Did you mean 5-6 feet? You said 5-6" which means 5-6 inches. ;)

If you meant inches, you are feeding WAAAAY to much. If they are 5-6 feet, you are probably feeding the right PPMs. If they are 5-6 inces, you need to drop the PPM to 400ppm.

rr14, you can still get that edge curl-up with those temps if your humidity is very low, which is quite common in wintertime where the air gets very dry. Do you have a reading on your %RH?
