I have a BlueLab combo meter. I would like to test my outdoor plots soil PH. I do not want to buy soil PH test kits or strips.
Can I take distilled or RO water, a soil sample, mix the two together completely, let the soil settle at the bottom and test the waters PH value to get a "rough" estimate of the soil PH value? I am working with very heavy clay soil and read that clay can be acidic or alkaline and a test has to be performed to know how much lime to add.
If anyone has experience in my situation or knows if this method will work please let me know. Thanks guys.
