outdoor soil indoors

Hello everyone, Ive finally decided to start a new and have a question for you soil guys. I live on a farm with good soil made up of what was here when I got here and my compost bin, i also have goats, whos manuer makes great fertilizer. Im afraid that using these soils indoor will bring bugs and other nasties into my home, any advice or comments on doing it or if im wrong.

I don't think you're wrong about the critters, and I think I know what to do just not exactly.I know the soil should be put into the oven not microwave but I don't know temps and duration.

never bring outside to inside. Not even plants from outside to your inside growroom as they MIGHT have bugs and shit on them that will infect the rest of the plants. Bad idea :)

d4.

Or just release some lady bugs into the grow room if it's really that big of a deal.

You being a farmer, should know you are bound to bring in those nasty creatures if you use that soil. I stopped letting even my own pets in my grow rooms, when I noticed some spider mites appear once. No animals, no mites. I hate the cost of soil also, but even some good organic soils I buy have a gnat problem if I dont do something about it right away.

Cooking soil in an oven? Not!

Lay out a section of landscape cloth, cover it with the soil you intend to use/blend with amendments about 6 or so inches deep. Cover with black visquine plastic sheeting This will work better in a place in your yard that receives the most sunlight. The solar heat will, as in a compost pile, kill seeds/bugs.

Let the sun bake the soil. Turn the "soil" periodically and fluff it up.

You don't have to pay $12 for 1 cu.ft. of "soil" made by a minimum wage jack-off.

Notice, above, that I mentioned amendments. Perlite, ,coco, green sand and etc.

When you are done, check the ph and adjust accordingly. Just my .02 cents worth.

happy growing and peace
