nasty shit ain't it? welcome to IC papaya, i might grow your namesake strain next year.
by the way, that rot is off a nirvana bubbilicious ordered through the seed boutique. not blaming them at all, my area is prone to budrot and mold and we have had a lot of rain lately and the buds are really dense too. kick ass seeds for the price.

is there anything that can be done to prevent it? other than a resistant strain i mean. is there something i can put on 'em before too late into flower to help prevent it. reason i ask, is this is my 2nd outdoor ever and i have a farily big girl out there and i know she's takin her time to finish. so scared about the late season ruining my harvest. thanx!!

i no this is a dead thread but for anyone who is having trouble with bud rot this maybe a chance to figure out what is causing it..i have found out the hard way that when we growers see these nice dence buds coming on ,that we have a tendecy to reach up and give them a little squeeze to get that nice smell on our fingers..i know this because i have found myself doing this a number of times without even knowing i am doing it ..till after i have commitited the crime..i have a bud today that i just got done cutting a 4 inch chunk off of because of my un-ability to keep my fucking hands to my self..it was right were i gave it this little squeeze and as soon as it hit that this was the cause ,my mind raced back to another grow a few yrs ago that i had the same trouble and i could picture my hand grabbing it in that exact spot also..so i beleave our squeezing is bruising our buds and causing them to be weak to mold in these areas of the plant..it maybe in part the rains and hi humitity that helps this along...so next time you want to see what your plants smelling like ,bend your back and get real close and inhail...but keep your hands from squeezing your buds..atleast till harvest..

good luck i hope this helps someone...

Hey I did not think of that until now! Thankyou! I still am going to get rot just not as much now. Unless i can figure out if Potassium bicarbonate based products help at all like Greencure or Kaligreen.

Alright! I was concerned and confused between powdery mildew and botrytis (budrot) and some people were claiming KHCO3 products work for powdery mildew but not budrot. Sooo if you grow a cola in your shower Silverback and hey since they say it controls botrytis I am finally convinced. Screw Serenade. Thanks.you again.

bud rot turns your buds brown and powdery mindew is white and will cause spots in some cases on your plants leafs and stem...both are mold spores ...i have never tryed to spray for the budrot but my tomatos had white powdery mildew a few yrs back..i dont like to spray anything on my buds ,not even water..i prefer to bottom water and feed..to much moisture in the tops of the plants or in your buds will cause these kinds of trouble too..

oh i used a safer product on my tomatos the one time tho and it did help them..

Hi,

I try to keep plants as healthy as possible. I do not like early sexing because wilted pistils let rot in hence I prefer a short, explosive bloom.

I think that over-fertilization promotes rot. Organically grown mustard tastes much different from conventionally grown one. Spontaneous utterings come out of nowhere, like fairy tales, that is life.

I do not cut off rotting parts but just let it go until harvest time. I do remove wilted fan leaves and such when I get a chance. I do not touch growing buds, right.

There is not THE most rot-resistant variety. Skunk is best grown in a greenhouse, coping with high humidity but not with frost. Other varieties are better suited for the outdoors.

i found the most rot at the bottom of the plant right close to the stem/ground/whatever vegetation around it.
colas unnafected, they had stupid amounts of rain and survived a couple of frosts. no i dont squeeze buds, though i doubt thats the problem. your plants need air flow whereever your buds are on the plant to resist the rot. damp leaves from other things like grass (lots of dew) or bushes are a bad source of excess moisture.
skunk strains actually do well outside :joint:

i think if you squeeze your buds you are restricting the air that would flow around them but cant because the bud has been pressed together and compacted by the squeezing and not allowing the air to move around it ,it also bruises the small trichs and hairs ..lets face it theres a lot of reasons why but restricting the air that moves in and around the bud is what i beleave causes mold ..hi humitity and the nonstop rain alot of us are having causes these mold spores to spread faster ...also if you remove a bud that has budrot then the problum is not gone ..it just moves to another bud ..

i guess the real debate should be what to do about it ..there are tons of chems out there organic's as well that fight these molds and it is up to the grower what works best for them ..if i was a commercial; grower and had 2000 plants out there a little mold would be no big deal but i only grow 20 or 30 at a time around here and this can make a huge diffrence..i dont like to spray anything on my buds..

my budrots all gone ,well the whole plant was harvested a few days ago and i figure i lost about a half oz due to it..i still managed toget a little over 7 oz from this plant...juan valdez was the strain and it was part of a test grow i am doing for a buddy on the cc forum...i also have a few other autoflower strains out that are almost done to ..none of the others are showing any sign of mold or budrot...

Hey, I've lately experienced some rot, not so much on the bud, but on the stems..which in turn is cutting the life out from the rest of the branch.
I ordered some GreenCure, but could I do a 50/50 mix with Defender or is it strong enough to apply by itself? BTW, its black rot I'm experiencing.

Prolly is rot but dont forget to look deep inside toward the stems because there might be a lil tiny caterpillar eating some stems up in there. They dont really eat the leaves and calyxes i noticed. The nug connected to the stem they are eating will die and look a lot like rot. If you see shit lil pieces of shit in there it is a pillar.

Alright, I'll keep an eye out for that, so far for pest control i've used 'End All' it seems to work reasonably well. And Avid, once for mites...in veg.
I just applied GreenCure yesterday and will do additional applications down the road. It' would be great if it works.
Anybody that uses GreenCure, would it wash away if it rained the next day after its been applied?....its raining today :badday:

I dont think greencure is for bud rot. I think it is for powdery mildew. I think for rot you need to just pull it off. There must be heavy humidity where you are at.
