just wanted to remind you all... with all this hot dry heat were are having right now, especially in the NE US, make sure you are checking and watering your plants everyday if possible. the containers dry out real fast with the sun beating down on them all day. i checked my girls the other day and they were quite thirsty. just a friendly reminder. good luck.

yeah man, container's dry out real fast. they have the heat of the sun drying them out from all direction's except the bottom. when plant's are in hole's their root's can spread out more and the only part getting sun is the top of the ground.

Dude, I'd be really careful with that mushroom. Some of 'em are really poisonous and give off spores that can make you sick!

Outdoor grow in containers

I am alos growing in 15 gallon containers in a greenhouse. It has been over 100 degrees here for almost a week, and is suppose to be over a hundred for the next few days too. I water in the moring and the afternoon. The hotter it is and the bigger the plant, the more water they need. Here are some pics that I took about two weeks ago from my greenhouse.

nice looking set up NorCal. most of mine are in 5 gallon buckets, but i need to go find some more 10-15 gallon pots myself. i cover the tops of my containers with flat stones too, it seems to help trap the moisture in the soil.

^^ You can find larger pots than 5 gallons by going to your local nursery and asking them if you could get some. You may have to pay something for them because they have value and the nurserys often return them to the growers for some money. Most likely they will be black plastic. One nursery I go to will give me 1 gallons for free. This was a good thread to start to remind everyone about watering in hot weather.

Yeah totally. Last year I had to hike in the heat and because of the dense tropical vegetation here, I had to cover up well to keep the bugs off me. Ended up catching a nasty fungal infection as a result. I'll be using 10 and 15 gallon grow bags for the Fall season (no frost here..I can pull several crops a year :) )

yes and can cause your liver to shutdown. i hunted mushrooms and ginseng as a kid and adult. you do not want to eat a mushroom if you dont know what kind it is. i know of a couple pieces of property here right now where cattle graze and you can hunt mushrooms. and yes some are growing right out of cow patties.
