outdoor bug problems

so I got these pants that are very close to being finished but I'm having issues with bugs. I started to notice some dying growth a few weeks ago. At first I chalked it up to some fungus but being that we have had an extremely DRY summer and it's been dry right up to today I was skeptical but was willing to deal with a little bud loss. Now over the course of the past few weeks I am seeing more and more dead growth on the buds. Upon further investigating it turns out that I have some type of inch worm that's doing all the damage. Some of the worms are green and about an inch long others are brownish in color and not as big.

at this point I do not believe there is anything I can do but I wonder what can I do in the future for next years grow to eliminate this pesty problem.

also I'm wondering if these damaged buds can be smoked without health risks. I know there are many on here that say smoking fungus buds is VERY bad f
or your health but I'm not certain if my buds have fungus damage or if they have just died from this bug damage?

Any help here would be most appreciated

Sounds like caterpillars. Those fuckers will destroy everything. You need to get some BT caterpillar killer asap. They are eating your buds from the inside out and the damage will grow every single day. Affected buds will all rot.

You don't know about cattapillers? Pretty standard pest but they can ruin entire grows. Moths come and lay their eggs all over the plants. Then the worms hatch and eat your buds and shit all over them which causes browning and mold. Get yourself some BT spray for next year. Sounds like you are pretty screwed this year all you can really do is pick them off. If you kill them with a pesticide they wil get stuck and die inside your buds. Which is bad lol. Sorry man. Also if you are serious about growing try searching this forum or Google for answers. There is an ocean of knowledge just waiting for you to dip in. Good luck.

Such a shame. My plants were looking so good. Looks like I may lose about 50% of my crop because of this shit but I will be better prepared for next year!!!!

Hey red next year start spraying ur plants weekly with neem oil and this will keep all buds that eat on plants to fuck off. u can also use spinosad for the CATs. they caused a bunch of my plants last year to get bud rot bc they shit in the buds mold spores love moisture. i hear on being prepaired bro! i lost about 75-80% of my grow last year to mold bc i was a lazy fker and did not have a good IPM but this year i was hardcore on prevention and so far i havent had any mold loss. its been pissing down for the last 4 days so im not out the woods jsut yet as i have a few plants left out to finish up.

Start spraying BT In mid August next year. About every 10 days until 2 weeks before harvest.

Get out there early morning (just after dawn) and pick those fuckers off. Thats when they are easy to find. Feed em to the chickens.

When you look in the morning like Kygiacomo said for the bastards shake your branches. If they don't fall off, sometimes it makes them wiggle and move and they are easier to spot.

So I'm beginning to start my harvest. I'm about half way thru the 1st of my 4 plants. I'm finding that almost half of my buds are ruined by those gosh darn catepilars so it's turning into a timely harvest. I'm also seeing some other type of bug cacoon that maybe you peeps can help me with. The cacoons are white/grey in color with small squiggly black stripes on them. They are small only about an 1/8 inch long and about as thick as an ink tube of a pen. Any ideas?

I have another question that doesn't pertain to bug issues but I'll ask here on this thread anyways. So as I am going thru all my buds I'm having to go thru them rather thoroughly because of the bugs but I'm seeing what appears to be male flowers on the parts of the buds that are tight up against the main stem? are these male flowers or is it just a part of the bud that was getting no sunlight and so they remained a very pale green/yellow. I don't see any pollen coming from these buds and so far I have only found 1 seed that dropped out. Any Ideas ????

I'll try to get some pictures up later

Next season spray with spinosad, BT or OG bio war every 4-7 days alternating sprays. That will keep the cats down.

As for the possible male flowers......I would need to see a picture, but it sounds like male flowers. Male flowers form due to stress. Did you have an outdoor light that turns on and off? Does a neighbor? Did the damage from the cats stress your plant out and cause them? Not enough sun light can cause hermi's on the lower growth. If you found one fully mature seed, that means you started the stress over 6 weeks ago.

Could also be genetics.
