Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest jazz pianists in history, died today at the age of 82. This Canadian-born pianist inherited the torch from Art Tatum, and held it high during his long career. I'm at a loss for words right now, and my Christmas has been ruined.

Requiescat in pace, Oscar :badday:

Ya he was. He had a sister that played classical who was a beast too, he used to say she had even beter technique then him as if that was possible.I think he was playin with only one hand for the last decade or so actually after a stroke he had. Oscar P, Jaki Byard,Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane were the major influences that got me started on playin jazz piano . Oscar Peterson , often immitated but never duplicated, Rest In Peace.
