Ortega Indica

Would love to get an original Ortega and grow it side by side with what Shanti is calling Ortega. Peace GS

i have grown 2 fem. beanies of DP's ortega indica, you can see them in the link in my signature... it's in german but ortega indica stays ortega indica, so it should be possible to find the pics 
doesn't make me sleepy as advertised but beeing relatively clear next day seems to be right.
buzz is nice, you get relaxed but stay clear enough to read, think etc.. thoughts stay where they are and don't fly away all the time
(damn hope you understand what i want so say, lol..)
both of them smell heavy like grapefruit, so the description of the taste doesn't fit too much (they say woody/spicy i think - but its the heaviest fruit explosion i ever experienced while growing...)
definitely worth a try, smell and taste are awesome!
but don't expect it to be a perfect sleep medicine as it's advertised.. but maybe it works for other people and i'm just too used to weed?
and yield is much below average but that't not a big problem for me.
as it's very headbud dominant a SOG may work well to get nice yield..

I've grown LUI which is the Sweet Tooth#3 father x Ortega clone. Definitely got some nice woody/spicy buds that had a heavy relaxing buzz. Quite medicinal, it's one of my favourite smokes.

I dont think there is any relation between the 2, Shanti's is NL5 x NL1 or something like that. Shanti's had a lot of complaints of herms.
He must think there is or he would not likely have chosen that name, no?

I know exactly what you mean, sounds like some good indicas Ive tried in the past, and grapefruit is always a plus here.

if you want ortega then find the clone, i doubt those seeds are anything like it but dont know for sure.
ortega is nl5 x nl1 like previously stated.. its a nice bomb ass indica plant made by jim ortega or made for jim ortega.
i think youd be better off getting black domina or lui then dp's ortega. it would be nice if it is the real deal tho. i would buy it cuz i just flowered the clone and it is bomb! perfect old school weed.

MNS Ortega will knock you out, but I agree Shanti had no basis for naming those seeds Ortega. Nevil clearly stated that NL and Ortega are two unrelated lines, and now we have Shanti telling us that Ortega is the crossing of two NL lines. It doesn't make sense. That being said, MNS Ortega is extremely narcotic and tasty. It is, however, also very "sensitive" according to multiple growers (including Nevil himself).

No, that is the recent release from MNS called "Ortega" .. nl5 x nl1... that is not Ortega at all, the DP version is half Ortega.
Jim Ortega aka Dogless is no longer on the MNS forum iirc, so I never got to see his reaction.
Also, Nevile got [quietly] bought out by Scott a couple of years ago, is no longer part of MNS and is working with Reeferman these days it seems.

What is it about the Ortega that makes it coveted? I could never find satisfaction in LUI....most looked great...but were bland as hell. I've considered the F2s several times now...yet can't find the justification to run them. Even the outcrosses of LUI were not note worthy.
Still...there must be a cause for the Ortega...otherwise I'd think..no one would have worked it?? Always thought the Ortega name sounded boss.

How did you find this out if you dont mind me asking? Never knew Nev and Shanti parted ways - end of an era.
As far as I understood Nevil was working with Kangativa trying to improve Nevil's Haze by crossing it with Mullumbimby Madness, Oaxacan and an african line called Kariba Surprise.

I had a quick look through 10 pages, but could not see it, it is hard to get much good info on that site as there is so much arguing and supplication. Basically, IIRC Shanti said it himself, there was then a hundred odd pages of arguing about Nev working with Reeferman, what he is up to with his new superhaze project, speculation about Reeferman's politics etc, quite a read if you have the time and patience.
I had a couple of friends who post there point out the interesting bits as I do not usually have the time to follow things there properly, both told me Nev had PMed them and during convos, was asking for old MNS seed stock....
