Organic Marijuana Soma Style

Soma's box style was in one of the magazines I had once.. I think it was "Heads"

I realized that I could transfer my organic gardening indoors with a Soma type box.

I have and I have been working on improving my situation for almost a decade now.

I met Soma in Amsterdam.. Nice guy and I know everyone there would say he makes a great cake!

So I would read his book and maybe I'll order a copy.

Although I had a falling out many moons ago with the fellas there, here is my build.
Sad news is you have to sign up to see the pictures. You have to request to be deleted as well.

P.S. I'd order the signed one if I do!

Jack,

I registered yesterday at growkind.com, but still can't access the photos. I'll keep trying....

Alright.. Have a look.. It isn't the easy way to go but it is a Soma influenced design.
The pluses are composting in place and a very active Micro-herd. You saw the buds from ordinary seeds.
The negatives are costs and the labor to build.

They usually have just one person checking IP's and approving members so it may take 24~48 hours. At least that's how it was done many moons ago.

I had a closer look at Soma's site.. What an individual!

There are much better methods IMO.
Burn1

You mean Soma? The boxes I saw him use in the magazine make sense now that I know what the "atmosphere / clime" is like in Amsterdam.

My design makes sense for my "atmosphere / clime" and my needs.

look around the site I'm sure you can find all the info in the book in this forum. Good luck

Yeah look everywhere.. Not just grow sites but gardening sites in general.. We all get our info from various places.

Nice to have a location to socialize with it. I have been a huge fan of grow sites since I received my medical recommendation. I couldn't hang anyplace else for the social of it..

I got soma's book recently, read it, and just built 2 4x8 adaptations of his beds. definitely some hard work and investment, but i'll have a nice living soil bed that i can use and re-use grow after grow.
Soma's book is pretty good, a lot of the key info is in his magazine articles already on his site. Good read though, not an expensive book so i'd go ahead and get it to support him if you are interested in his grow styles.

I'll update soon here when i get some plants in my beds! Just waiting for some clones

I know about the hard work.. It is a bitch to construct things but if I do want to it all unscrews.

But so far it's lasted years and will continue to last years unless something happens to it so..

Congrats on your beds!

Please share! I'm about to build a soma style box this weekend or early next week. If there is something else better, please let me know.

I haven't see a post by Burn1 for a while.. I could have missed it but you can try email.

I remember that folks were championing simpler more produce-productive points of view in the way back. However there is room for the unique too.

I think Burn1 is a Organic/NonOrganic type of gardener and I think he uses small container style but then again I never really chat with the man.

IMO you would not be able to learn as much from this book as you could from several threads in these forums.

For proof I offer the photo of the clown looking guy on the link you provided.

There's no way someone with his obviously 'throw back" and unkempt appearance has been keeping abreast of anything that has to do with new techniques or farming methods.

Yes, organics changes as does conventional farming. This guy looks as if his only skill is joint rolling.

Perception is everything and seldom lies.

I heard he is doing organic hydro now, I would of thought a hippie like him wouldn't be so quick to abandon the dirt of the earth.

LOL funny stuff.. :tiphat: I don't take any of the 'authorities' on growing mj too seriously, but they all have valuable first hand experience with one plant. Soma's online articles are worth reading imo. He explains things simply.

Wow - the hate for my post is deafening.

I've read the book, and yes I must agree that it is not the most comprehensive source for info on the fundamental principles of implementing an organic garden. One would be better served reading The Rev's articles in Skunk if they want to find more info on the technical aspects of organic gardening. That being said, these techniques obviously work for Soma, who has won more than one Cannabis Cup with his finished product. Not the best book, but good to have in the collection, the more books the better I say.
