ok i am tryn to decide on which light to get for my lil box. its either a 250wt hps with an enhanced bulb or a 400wt with hps hortilux bulb. the demensions are.33'Lx30"Dx36"T i know i built it with odd demensions.. i have a 150wt hps on it but i need more lumens..heres the box dont have an open shot but i will put one up later when i get at home

any opinions...

its gonna get pretty hot in there with a 400Watter...

have you considered CFL or a 2 foot T5?

is the cab for vegging? flowering? or both?

I agree with Sleepy. I run 2 400 watters in a 8x8x8 room and it gets a bit warm in there. 250 CFL or a T5 would do good.

My 400 watt light requires 2' above it for ventilation room and (unless your light is air cooled), you need 18-24" below it or you'll be frying the plants. You'd be better off with compact fluoros supplementing what you already have.

well the brown thing on top of the box is the light. the only way a plant will get close is if its 3+ft tall. i have a 335cfm fan constantly on temp right now with the 150wt hps is like 65 at warmest. i should have gave a little more info its my fault. i use T5 compact fluros for veggin already

i am using this for flower right i do vegg in it also but my girls have about 2-3 weeks more of vegg and training then i will flower. i will have more pics tonight of the inside. i am doing a scrog grow with this. right now the plants are about 12-14" maybe a bit more from the light and top of the box itsself. the screen will be set at about 11-13" from the top.. i am thinking a 250wt will be perfect.

If you wanted to use just 1 bulb then the 250 hps would be perfect and leave room for maybe a few cfls for side lighing but you may not need that I used a 200 watt hps( very rare) in a similar box size that worked perfectly and got be baseball bat size colas.

considering that your box has about 8 square feet of area... a 150w is very low and a 250 w would be also... combining the two is very inefficient... as lots of the energy is lost through heat output of light and ballast... starting at 400w, PAR and lumens efficiency start to get interesting.... at 50w per quare foot... it would be great... i would be worried about the vertical space of your box.... but a tempered glass would retain heat from the plants and your fan is powerful enough to handle the heat... just my 2 cents... peace

went with the 250 wt with a 270 enhanced spctrum bulb so we will see what happens...thanks for the opinions
