Depends on your space...but in a small area to start cuttings or seeds off id say about 8"-12" should be ok to start...start with 12" and if they seem fine after afew days drop it to 10" and repeate afew days later...it probably wont be enough light to get bigger veg growth...but for veging small plants for very small areas it should work...you could probably get beter though...really you want something with a higher par value...tiny plants could probably grow right up to that and streach for more light.

ah, just looking for something to keep above an aero cloner - don't want to stimulate any leaf growth, just give them maintenance light.

Appreciate your response.

Looks like it would work fine for clones, just a bit of a rip-off for the actual amount of light you're getting at 19 watts. A couple of SIL's would put out about the same for a lot less money.

15w of light for $49 is a bit much, no? A 15w SIL is under $6 usually, and DIY LED builds are < $1/watt now.

Good points all.

I was under the impression that the PAR values quoted in responses are for growth, which would take away from root development in clones.

Isn't clone lighting supposed to be....maintenance-like?

I'm not trying to validate my decisions here - I just have two of those sitting around and don't want to buy any T5s. I'm getting stoner equipment sprawl.

Thanks for all the inputs.

I appreciate the link. That's in the plan in about 6 weeks - have a couple of other priorities in the grow flow right now.

Im not having good results using my 3K LED floodlight, 3K CFL, or my 4K LED tube lamp.

Thinking it might be the spectrum? Going to get one of these, blurpble funky lights.

what ya think? I shows the nm wavelength, but no overall kelvin spectrum. Can you look into this and enlighten me?
