I'm getting my first tent in the next couple of weeks and I'm thinking of getting a big Mars led to replace my air cooled 600w hps. I just want to try something new and I've never grown in a tent before. Can I get some wisdom?
I was looking into the LED scene but half the crowd bashes the Mars II models and praises the DIY panels. Some may be up for doing that... Im not. The manufactured panels that are ranked high cost a fortune. At least on this side of the border, and for a hobbyist grower. Then there are journals and youtube videos that show some decent results, and people cant say enough good. Im sure someone will come along spitting out tech talk neither one of us will understand, no names mentioned
I love tents, they work well for me and my situation. Make sure you check weekly for light leaks. I learned that the hard way. Im looking at $1050 for a mars 1600w here. Knowing that i can get a 1k setup for under a quarter that price and the yield i can get, for me personally its not worth it...
Certainly Mars are far from the best option to choose in the led world. If you choose Mars, I think more small lights give better coverage than one big.
DIY can be best value for money but needs a pair of hands and some brains And some time to buy parts.
For the best leds on market be prepared to pay at least double compared to hid, over 1000bucks for a decent coverage.
If you want a quality improvement, go for the ceramic MH 630 system.
Id be interested to see what the difference is in heat as well...
Viewed an interesting comparison with a mars 700w vs another maunfacturer (cant remember who) and the PAR output was double that of the mars units. Looked it up online and the price was x3 as much...
Koondense makes a good point... between the ceramic, gavitas, and LED we have allot more options than our fathers did...
