Hey there, Suomalaiset :)
Just moved to finland for a couple of months and was interested in how relevent this article
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=207149
could be to finland?

What are your stories with them cops at the doors like?
Any ideas on the warrant procedures up in here? =)

I know you finnish folks are one of the most positive nation on this planet, but how are your cops like? =) So far I have only noticed how polite your authorities are at most cases.

What are you native experiences like?

Speak up ! =)

There is no housesearch warranties like in the states, if police want to search your home they will. Some times they come nicer and kind of politely, other times not. If they want in and you wont open the door they will most likely call maintenance man to open it, so no kicking in doors at least. Or they can ring the doorbell and just rush in if/when someone comes to open the door.

I disagree, i think this is the most negative place. at least south finland is. You just gotta get higher and higher physically or mentally, and thing's are going more and more positive.

But seriously, here in south finland people like bus driver's and salesman's are asshole's very often.

Yeah, welcome to finland! :D

Well the police don't need any kind of warrant, and any cop can decide to intrude your private property or come in. If you don't answer the door, they will get the maintenance guy to do it or simply brake the door in. Also in finland cops cant be held accountable for their wrongdoings in the line of work or in the civil, but they have good-brother-club with procecutors and the media guys so it's not even rare for a cop to get away with murdering his own wife (JUST happened last summer, the guy was released couple a weeks ago) let alone from stealing or destroying ones property.

Finland is VERY corrupt country nevermind the polls.

Also from the places i've been, people in here are most held back, negative and jealous of each other.

oh well, at least the summer is beautiful...

Wellcome to Finland! :D

I have to disagree. Finland is really not that corrupt at all. I don't think you can say Finland is "VERY corrupt" if it's one of the least corrupt countries in the world. Compared to most countries finnish people are quite polite, yet silent but no, we are not that positive people :D And the police in general are the same. It's easy to start hating them because of the feeling that we (the smokers & growers) are their enemies or something like that. But when you go to like middle east or southern or eastern europe or asia or US etc, then we can talk about corrupt cops :)

One thing to remember though, it's not the cops you should worry about, it's who gets to know you smoke and grow. There are alot of people around here that can't stand the idea of someone getting high. Especially if that someone is living next door. If you play your part as you should, you don't need to worry about the police at all. Anyway, welcome! :D

Yeah I'm with StonedGolem, choose your friends carefully. Snitches are bitches. Also, never order equipment from a finnish or a foreign growshop/seedshop to your grow address. Remember to use carbon scrubbers and don't overkill with your lamps, especially if you live in an apartment building.
Stay friendly with them neighbors (even if they are assholes), and you should be OK.

But still, even with those safety measures, you can still get busted. It's up to the cop, if he wants to get in your house, he will and he doesn't need to give you any explanations about it. So just endure and keep your mouth shut until you get to the interrogation.

Don't snitch anybody, in Finland you won't get off any easier if you do, but will lose a fuck load of friends. Be as honest as you can be about your actions, stay good mannered and don't lose your temper.
If your case goes to court the same rule applies.
If you annoy the police who does the interrogation, then most probably he and the prosecutor will bury you in an unnecessarily large amount of shit. The prosecutor will try to do so regardless, but he/she only works on the material given by the police, so keep it cool and you should be fine, especially if you're a first timer.

Well most people don't want to admit and like to take comfort in some bullshit polls, but let me tell you Finland is just as corrupt as any western country is. Goverment, Military, Police, Banks, Media, you fucking name it. You can get away with ANYTHING with good friends and a lot of money.

They key to living and growing in here is not to give a fuck. Just do your own thing, grow and use what you want, just don't bother your neighbours or anyone else. Stay under the radar and if the shit hits the fan DENY everyhing all the way and complain about every court decicion whatever it may be, ask for lesser penalties!

Justice system is pretty decent though, just gotta work with it. And don't forget to DENY everything! :D ;)

I was typing a long ass reply to this, about the "by the book cops" and the corruption of politicians, the super high taxes and cost of living, but the further i went, the more pissed off i got, so i'll just ask; Why in the world would you move to Finland?

There is no doubt that there is no country that would be free of corruption. I mean 100% free. In worst cases in some countries you can avoid getting a speeding ticket or peeing in the street corner or if the cops found a knife on you, just by offering the authorities a small sum of money, not in Finland. The only kind of corruption over here is bribing companies and politicians with a huge sum of money but that's the case in every country. That said, it's better to have small amount of corruption than have it all around you, because it's not possible in any way that humankind could create a 100% corrupt free nation/country. Accepting the fact that human is what it is by it's nature, in Finland we are doing really fine with corruption among a lot of other things.

Thanks for your inputs, guys. And you say finns arent positive? =) look @yourselves :p all on the right vibe stating the opposite!

It all sounds pretty good to me still.

The reason for moving is the free education which I adore so much :)

By the way, how safe is it to buy from finnish hydroshops?

not so long ago I went to one of your hydroshops and I swear I noticed a tail on my WALK home. No bs, a real tail! I know when I see one. I lost it ofcourse somewhere in the hoods, but that kind of amazed me at some point.

Can anyone suggest them good hydroshops that you have around? so far only been in one.
Im interested in the region of uusimaa btw.

Thanks so much ya'll

Buying from a finnish hydroshop can get you busted. Not so long ago, they used to stalk in front of one and randomly pick up the customers and raid their houses. Eventually this led to a raid and the shop was closed. The customer records were seized, and hundreds more raids were made due to this.
All the employees were imprisoned and questioned. Owners are now on trial or waiting for sentencing. Haven't really kept a close eye on the situation.

But if they are found guilty, then I guess that every hydroshop in Finland is deemed as renegades, and be put down by the police.

So yeah, buying from a finnish hydroshop is real safe :=)

Well the upside is the penalties. In bigger cities the cops are used to finding small personal grows, so if you behave yourself and be polite they may not even drag to you the police station right away. Of course you'll have to show up for interrogation later. If your grow can be concidered a personal grow then you should get away with a fine as low as 250€ for students/unemployed but it depends on your income/ the procecutor. However, not all cops are this cool, if you get searched by a straight-out-of-the-academy steroid pumped asshole you might be in trouble.

Also for small grows you wont get a permanent register, the penalty goes into the same register as speeding tickets, most employers wont even have access to it.

My advice would be admitting that you grow for personal use, you never sold anything or bought anything from anybody, you got the seeds from a guy in a bar and learned everything from the internet on your own. This is just my plan, i havent gotten caught.. yet.

But it really sucks that your property means nothing to the cops, they can come in and search everything and if they find nothing they can just say they got an anonymous tip and there isnt much you can do about it. Also if they find weed on you or even a bong it apparently gives them the right to search your place, so be careful if you decide to grow.

And don't believe these negative things people say about finland, just go out and meet some people, talk to them and you'll see they're just normal people having fun. The negativity and jealousy may be true in the depressing world of internet where every asshole has a way of expressing their close-minded opinions but the real world is much better!

And your best bet for hydroshops in head-nature.com, a german shop with 17€ postage costs and a good selection.

(korjatkaa ihmeessä jos olen väärässä noissa seuraamuksissa, en ole hetkeen lakitekstiä jaksanut lukea, tiedot perustuu joku pari vuotta sitten hankittuun tietoon)

Actually, they were found not guilty so I find buying my stuff from the shop nearby pretty safe. I guess that case is an example now. Only thing I have to look out for before I step through the door of that shop is people I know that don't know that I smoke and grow :)

Kikkoman, Teddy, and everyone else Thanks alot!

one last question. Say they find my 1 scrog bush that is about to yield 250-700g. Do you think it can be categorized as personal consumption kind of bush in this country?
Which it is btw. I am a heavy toker after all =P

Well, if the cops were to find 700 grams of buds on a bush, it certainly ain't small enough to go for a personal use only (by them). Also, they don't only count the buds, they count the whole damn bush, and sometimes (don't know how often) before drying it.

I don't buy anything from Fin-growshops;
1. The tail that you mentioned. I've heard of ppl getting busted like that, cops just pull you over on the street and want to know what you bought, next thing you know, they are raiding your shit. Not to mention the "viherpeukku" thing. A Fin growshop that got busted by cops on "aiding drug related crimes" and tax evasion or whatever, they searched a lot of houses by addys found on their customer records, some were weed growers, but some were just growing chili or some shit like that. Also worth mentioning that the DA or prosecutor and the cops spent a lot of time and tax payers money to set up the charges and the case, and i think one or two guys got a jail sentence outta it, the rest got couple o hundreds euros worth of fines.. So money well spent. NOT! Thankfully the court ruled that it's not up to the merchant to control what the customer does with whatever he or she bought.

2. Anything you can buy from Finland, you can get cheaper from Germany or pretty much any other european country, not incl. Norway, and delivered to your door step. Of course i'm way too paranoid to order anything to my house, but i have a couple of pals who are clean and willing to risk it. :)

Anyhow, if u'r not living in a larger city, and especially not an apartment building, growing is relatively safe, if u'r smart about it; not telling ppl, not showing off, not dealing and your basic stuff like that. I live in a small village in southern Finland, and i haven't seen a cop in months. Also i try to stay incognito and no one knows me here, so it's kool :)

Tryinna stay positive about the + side o things, but sometimes it's hard.. But atleast it's not Sweden, where they have their stupid zero tolerance policy on any drug, which of course has been doomed to fail from day 1, cause most drugs are great!
Sometimes it's such a socialist nightmare here in the north.

Way to go man ! :D I love that aproach.

I feel like a honey badger out in the woods, not giving a flying fuck at all, acting in disregard of consequences.

That's one valid reason to moving to Finland : Out in the bush you're on your own, what happens in the bush, stays in the bush.

You could crown yourselves king and noone wouldn't bother since there is no one around ;)
