I would .......

I would .......

prune the plant to get it managable and then start 12/12 right away. You will get a lot of smaller colas but it will increase your yield.

How about the details of your nutes/setup/enviro?

It's normal for them to stretch alot during the first couple weeks of flowering...but if they are still stretching 2 weeks in (on indy dom strains) then there is something else going on...

With 3 months veg their is gonna be some serious strech. Nothing you can really do but tie them down.

I have the same problem right now. I was working on a new grow room and I had some clones vegging at another location to speed up my crop. While they were vegging I had to get the electrical panel set up for 100 amp service. Too make a long story short, It took longer then I thought for the electrician to do his thing and wasn't able to transfer the plants to the grow room until they were way to large. This made it hard to transport without anyone noticing and now with the stretch they are five feet tall and my whole grow room is filled from top to bottom. I had to use 4 - 1000 watt lights to give these girls enough light and still I could use more. It is such a pain in the ass to possision them everyday, not to mention the frequent waterings. I can only imagine how much work it is going to be when the buds start to get large and need support.

I solved one of my problems by removing the air cooled hoods and setting up my lights verticle so that the plants surround the lights. This way they can grow to the ceiling without being burned and touching the lights. Luckily it's not summer her yet so hopefully with the central air on I can get away with this crop not getting too hot. I got another 5 and a half weeks to go though, so we will see how it works out. I think my yeild should be quite good if I can keep the temperatures down.

Just thought I'd let you know what I did in this situation. I feel your pain - good luck!

I used to have some serious stretching problems. I found out it was a combination of high heat, not enough fresh co2, and too much N during the first few weeks of flower. I would flower a 14" plant with a single cola and end up with a 4' tree.

Check your temps

You can either top them, or LST them (tie them down) Doing either in flower isn't something one would normally do, but it seems as though you don't have many other choices.

Personally, I'd save the tops if you've got bud developement going, and just tie them down. Otherwise, if you don't have any cola buds developing yet, you could top them.

Since you said that you thought they were on 12/12, but have really been on the veg cycle the whole time, I think you should either tie them down, or do a bit of fimming, then when you see the plant has recovered and has begun to grow again, hit the 12/12 cycle.

Good luck, mischievous san

Easy call here. Go ahead and trim down to your height by taking clones and/or Fimming as Ninja suggested. Make sure you also don't have any light leaks, this could be the cause of the plant's refusal to begin budding on time.. Once this plant is ready come out, the clones will likely be ready to go into flower. Basically, you can turn a negative situation into a win by doubling your flowers with the clones. That's positive, right? :D

Just chop them down loads.

Some people actually do what you did by accident on purpose.

They grow their plants loads in vegg, so muchh that the plants are much too big. Then they chop down alot of the vegitation so that you only have a little bit left. Yield amounts depend on the size of your root mass, not so much the vegitation on top so you have got the rootstructure to yield alot but your plants will stay small.

Edit: one problem you might have is that because you vegged for so long without planning to your pot might be too small for the roots you have grown in that time. Your roots beeing rootbound would reduce yield amounts so if you do reduce the vegiation and are planning to flower these plants, think about repotting them first.

I have the same issue right now, i was waiting to switch my lights because i was building some shit in there. Now i have humungus trees . I am in there everyday tying shit down. Get some twisty string an do that or get a net/screen and put it over the whole garden. i would avoid cutting anything this close to flower unless you really have too. good luck , remember with all that veg you should have a great yield if you can control those ladies. -Irie
