Hello all. I have been trying to sort out all of the ins and outs of sativas for the last few months. Having grown mostly indicas, a few things seemed counter-intuitive like:
12/12 for freshly rooted clones
small pots til after stretch
less than 12/12 light cycles
While there are many many people here killing it indoors, quite a few plants that followed the above advice seemed less than stellar yielders. All of that being said, I see the logic in each of the items above. That is the rub, how to get max yield without the plants hitting the roof. I learned a lot from Dr.King, may he RIP, and how he was using aggressive scrog techniques.
So, I wanted to get some feedback on the following plan for Oldtimers Haze regular:
1 ft x 7ft scrog in the back of the closet, so that it could grow unbothered for its long run.
Plants from regular seed (2 selected females out of 6 that germed) that are vegged under 24/0 light until sex is shown naturally (6-8 weeks).
After sexed, 2x selected females will be aggressively topped to have only 2x tops with all other growth (90% foliage) removed. Each plant will be then (at time of topping) transplanted from 1.5 gallon pot to 7 gallon smartpot with ~5.5 gallon of pure coco and placed under 12/12 for 10 weeks and then 11/13 for duration.
Each of the two plants will placed on opposite sides of the scrog. Plants will only have two tops that are woven down the length of the screen. All side shots will be removed until the stems make it past half way down the scrog.
The idea is that removing a large portion of the foliage at the same time transplanting to final large pot will allow it hit my target height of 8-10 feet of total linear plant using the length of the scrog.
I would love any feedback. Plan on growing Zamaldelica in a similar fashion, but with more females and a larger 3x7 screen.
Visualization of the concept is below, but it only shows one plant. The second will come from the other side and fill the screen.
