Oldskool grower in search of blueberry style strains

Hello everyone!

After a good 6 year break I'm looking to grow my own medicine again. I'm starting back from scratch and I'm search of a nice blueberry style strain. I have been doing some research over the past few weeks and there is so much terrible news of genetics being watered down or main parent plants lost and now finding nice tasty strains is harder then ever. So I'm looking for someone who has purchased seeds in the past year or so that has found a very nice berry like phenotype worth keeping. I'm not sure these days what breeders are still breeding great genetics and I don't want to order from the wrong one and waste any time. I want something very tasty and I will phenotype hunt some seed packs in the thse next few months.

I have just germinated a 5 pack of feminized sensi star I found locally and hoping to find something potent from it.

Our own VerdantGreen Seeds has BlueDigiBerry F2 for sale on Seedbay under the private breeders.
Also DJ shorts son JD who is active here on ICMag is reinvigorating his dads genetics. From what I've seen is the best and first choice for Blueberry style strains.

DJ Short... As mentioned his son, JD, is taking hold of the reigns of the ship. Search for OLD WORLD GENETICS.

Chimera has quite a few BB crosses in colab w DJ Short.

Those 2 are my #1 choices for Blueberry types.

There are many many other breeders out that use BB in their lines. Research research research...

Hey everyone thanks for the reply !!

DJShorts original true blue berry seeds seem hard to find. One of the strains that has been jumping out at me is Blue Dream. But everyone who has been growing the newer stuff aren't finding those special phenotypes I know the real deal BD is clone only and isn't local to me

I'm not really trying to get back into breeding right now mostly looking to pheno hunt and prep some moms before I start out big again. I will be running from clone to flower pretty much in a SOG. I might even try to find the orge from some big bud as well.

Mob is a bomb cut .... but....I don't think I can consider it a true blue berry type... it does have the smell n flavor of super sweet blue berry syrup medicine type but that's about it... it lacks the great creative motovational blueberry high , replaces it with a boring indica stone nothing special... grows slow with no stretch .... not anything like any blue berry plant I've grown.... I'm not knocking mob, I grow mob sshe is a super flavorful "loud"plant and probably the fastest finishing plant I got.. but she is nothing like the blueberry keeper I had... when I think true blueberry I remember that one of a kind high....

Perfect evaluation of the MOB. My sentiments exactly of the couple samples I've tried of her, Stoney. I didn't think she was quite as over the top BLUEberry, specifically, though. More fruity/candy/sweet. That of course could be environment dependent or based on the preface of other blueberries I've experienced that do in fact have that magical terp profile exactly.

I mostly have MOB S3 x Sativa chucks planned. Trying to stretch her out and add a bit of heady vibes to her high. Maybe I will be able to fix a few of her more undesirable traits while keeping the parts that are already special locked down.

She seems to be pretty stable and dominant in crosses. Hopefully she is in the mood to play nice.

Do you think she is the Jerry Berry or JB x BB like I have seen posted around the boards?

The orange crush crosses I run have some blueberry Dom plants.(Blueberry x California Orange)
The blue crush was very blueberry. The LAX3 was blueberry Dom as well. A couple seeds I will be popping in the next week or two came from buds that smelled like a steaming blueberry muffin. I will likely pollenated those with Black Lime Reserve males.
I have only one several year old blueberry seed I will be popping too.

Even though it kills me to say this look up lost river on ig. He has a few blueberry crosses using MOB. It kills to say that because I don't respect his breeding aka pollen chucking. I have grown out his mana kush and boo berry. Minus a few herms I had to 86, they turned out pretty close to the blueberry you are looking for

Sup Frank.... Ya I've seen her express different types of flavors.... I've been getting super sweet blueberry pie filling but seen her turn out differently depending on grower.... the blueberry I used to run was not as sweet had more of a real blueberry smell not overwhelmingly sweet hints of skunk floral blueberry muffin type like the Dabney cut..... the mob has an artificial sweet berry... if y'all know a butte county cut called blue knight it's dead on mob sweet......
Wonder if outcast cut is still out there ..

For MOB and hybrids of her I stick to my friends at Highrise. Very respectable people but their gear is hard to get unless you know exactly when and where to look.

The MOB S3s I am going to run came from them.

From what I have heard from people that grow a lot of MOB she turns more fruity/skunky, and less Berry like the later you harvest.

Honestly to answer your ? I have no clue on the actual lineage of mob I can ask a source close to the origin.... but I will say I won't be shocked if it turns out there is no actual trueblueberry genetics in mob... n that she is just a super berry sweet pheno of freeze...

I know that along the S1-3 inbreeding the purple became more dominant, and the flowering time lingthened a bit but it retained the smell and flavor.

I have heard similar things regarding the freeze as a possible lineage too.

Phylos had sequenced a few MOB samples but I have a hard time figuring out lineage through the galaxy and reports. I think there was a few Berry relations but I can't remember. I'll look more once I get to a laptop.

I guess all that really matters in the end is if we enjoy the smoke right?
