I have this rubbermaid tub that had some soil (ffof and fflw) that i may have added some water to just make it damp but it all dried, no mold smelling or anything.. its about a gallon worth of soil spread out on the bottom of a 25gallon tub.. you think its all good? its been about a month or two..

yeah man I think you should be fine, i keep my soil out all the time and it never causes me problems. I love FFOF!!!!!! that shit is dank.

soil - yes

Old nutes beware. Chems and liquids can have a limited shelf life and you will get no warning. ''Be aware of what is in your garden and how old it is, and it can get.

I have both, grow big or tiger bloom that dam near killed my garden - my retailer says toss em after 1 year - after I ripped my hair out.

they don't mention that when your buying the gallon jug

Its best to mix with some fresh soil if possible otherwise when you go to water its going to just runoff until you get 100% saturation all the way through.I dont like dry soil

When I plant my newly rooted clones in 4 inch pots,I thoroughly water until runoff, same as with a large plant.I always have I;'ve never used a spray bottle except to mist the inside of my dome.My tapwater is about 7.4,I use just enough 5-1-1 fish emulsion about 3/4 teaspoon to bring my ph to 6.5 and use this on my second thorough watering.EDIT Actually I have some to do this morning.

IMO new clones and seedlings don't need waterings that involve swimming lessons.

Most new growers have real problems overwatering - dripping pots lead to overwatering.

Water where there are roots initially - that is where it's needed - any excess at this time only sits and can lead to a problem with wet soil out of reach of the plant.

I don't get run-off till the second ot third waterings

The only way I've ever seen a plant become overwatered is if there is a bad drainage problem with the soil mix or there are no drainholes in the container, other than that it is pretty hard to overwater.Think about how many actual overwatering problems you've seen on the forums,if you're like me it hasnt been many.I just planted five clones in soil with 1 inch rw cubes in 4 inch pots since we last spoke, and I watered them just like I would a big plant.I'll put it under a 4 ft flo at a few inches for a few hours, then I'll move the flo down to withing 1/4 inch of the tops.Except to adjust the fixtures up a link or so every other day I wont have to water again for 6 or 7 days and when I do the plants will be twice the size as when planted.EDIT Capt kirk one way to look at it is when I bury a 1 inch RW cube in a 4 inch pot,you want to water past the bottom of the cube so the roots will grow into the wet soil.Well just another inch or so more and you'll have 100% saturation and runoff. If you're starting in a larger pot I can see the point, but if you're starting in a larger pot you are not doing it correctly to begin with.

No sproutco's downfall was that he didnt communicate any experineces he had, only what he read.If you compare my threads with sproutco, you're not as smart as I thought you were and that time it was directed at youEDIT By the way, lets see how many legitimate overwatering threads you can find since you say its such a problem for new growers,I think its a bunch of crap myself

there's that sproutco attitude - his was the only way and anybody that thought otherwise was an ass - just like you.- you really do think you know it all.

we have an award for peeps like that:

add-

Over 500 threads on overwatering - and you don't see it as a potential problem.

The award IS yours.

I dont know it all,but the things that have worked for me I will let people know about, they can do what they want with it.Dribbling water on my seedlings and new clones is not something that has worked for me.

Where did I say dribble?
I said water the root zone and surounding area - and new clones and seedlingss - AND recent transplants do not need waterings that involve swimming lessons

Just trying to let folks know how I do it,on a weekly basis for years now, you're definately closedminded to it thats cool I'm here to reach the newer growers anyway. There is no big overwatering problem for new growers, actually there is no such thing in soil. You may have a poor soil mixture problem that doesnt allow drainage,or you may have forgotten to pop the bottom off you 2 gal Kmart special, but overwating is not something you're going to have a problem with.
