Ok to transplant in flower?

I'm in the 2nd wk of flower and would like to transplant my girls into larger
pots, is this ok or will it cause too much stress?

When i culled the males(1gal pots) i noticed they were just starting to get
a little rootbound, they were in veg for 4wks.
The roots were starting to travel around the pot, about half way i say.
Like to transplant into 2 gal pots asap.
just figured i ask for advise first.

from my understanding root growth slows or even halts during flowering but if you feel the plant is root bound it will probably help if you can pull it off without damaging the roots.

You are probally better off transplanting. A 1gal pot is tiny, ecspecially after vegging for a month. Next time use 2 or 3 gallon pots from the start, makes things much easier!

you might as well transplant, probably wont make too much diff now.ideally, you should transplant before flowering, resulting in a bigger, healthier plant which coincidentally translates into more yummy bud.Transplanting stresses the plant and slows it down.get it over with in veg, leave the bud cycle for producing bud.

well last time i transplanted i did it in about my 2nd or 3rd month of flowering, the buds got fatter but mainly this one side branch at the bottom shot up and filled out quite nicley i am sure it went from a gram to alteast a 1/4 oz. in a couple weeks, and i transplanted from 2gl pots to 3gl grow bags, i got atleast 4-5 more inches at the top and about 2more inches on the sides.

as a grower now, i look at things from the point of view of max yield and what i can/cant do. what i had to do was match the amount of space i was missing in the new pot so that i didn't have too much space a the top and the bottom roots had more room to grow. most plants have a 1-2 month flowering cycle so IMO you do have time to get more out of your plant by transplanting, i mean at two weeks the most your seeing are the pistils are still fattening and budding up, and they even haven't begun to form trichs to the point of changing color (clear-cloudy-amber)

maybe because i am growin SSH, but i really didnt see any stress goin on . i would transplant on the day that you are supposed to water right after the lights come on so that once you transplant then you give them a fresh drink to lessen the shock of being transplanted and then they will have that moisture to reach for and will get grounded really quick.

During the stretch at the beginning of flowering, the plant is still growing new roots, once stretch has stopepd and full flower production has begun, transplanting will make little difference as the plant won't grow many new roots once flower production is in full swing. As you're 2 weeks in, there is stil lsome stretching and root growth to still happen, so transplant right away. I recommend transplanting from 1 gal to 2 gal either when you place the plants into 12/12 or one week before, this gives the plants plenty of new soil to root into during stretch, meaning greater flower production = more yield!

I grow a lot of sativas and use pot size to help induce flowering. I find with sativas that if I transplant when I put them into 12/12, the stretch can be massive, so I either flower them in small pots to keep their height down, or transplant a few weeks into 12/12 when they have shown sex and stretch is 2/3rds done. This is just to keep the plant size manageable.

you have just given me a gem of knowledge that i will never forget sir, i thank you very much, i am growing SSH now and i missed out on the height, which is what led me to transplant in the fdirst place to see what would happen. it stretched some more but not what i thought it would, but now i know for next time. thank you once again. :joint:
