Ok, so you grow. Are you wasteful?

Hello all,

Now that you have enough to meet your needs, do you empty that bowl before its done just to get a green hit?

Do you sweep away bud crumbs?

Do you toss (into the fireplace) your trimmings?

I never used to prior to tw years ago. Sure am glad I made the change.

I find myself doing this when I have a nice jar full of kind nugs. The first few hits are bomb and the rest are bullshit. Sometimes I'll pack too much and get ripped and just sit the bowl down. When I smoke again I'll just empty if out and pack a fresh one. I love that first hit. This is why I like smoking joints because you can always get a nice green hit and you can put it out and light it back up and get a better taste.

The only watseful thing I do is not smoke a half-smoked bowl. Otherwise I do tend to be frugal.
I always use a small glass piece now so I put a small amount in and hit it 2, maybe 3 times and it is cashed, solves the problem of left overs.

QFT on this website. Seeing some of the bud people smoke here compared to what I have had to smoke in my time makes me cry. It especially makes me cry when I see all that good bud go into making hash, but alas I'm sure I'll get to that point if my grows keep coming.

Same here. Right now I can't imagine throwing perfectly good buds into a bucket of water just to get some hash out of it. I'm sure that will all change in due time.


Back on topic. No grows here....but I love that green hit....so I just load one hitters for myself/friends. Why load a fat bowl if the first few hits are the only good ones? If I load a full bowl and smoke it to dust, those last few hits are terrible! That said, loading a HUGE bowl in a hooka with multiple hoses so everyone gets baked out of their minds is fun too.

Well I wouldn't say that I'm reeeeeeeeeally wastefull, just that now I have enough, I don't worry about re-lighting a joint if I think it doesn't taste nice anymore and just build another one :wink:

I save and smoke everything. I'm a procrastinator tho, so I've got tons of trim and stem to use up...

I take all of the stuff I dont smoke and toss it in a container and give it to a woman we know who doesnt have much. She still says it is better then what she can buy when she can afford it.

I have noticed lately that I dont finish half burned bowls that have sat overnight. I dont feel the need to smoke all the plant matter anymore. I guess it is one of the perks....

When I first started smoking my dad was growing Northern lights indoors, so I had access to tons of A and B-grade buds. I regularly dumped bowels once all green or brown colors turned black. One time one of my hardcore stoner buddys noticed all of the big unburned chunks in my ashtray, he told me I was nuts.

After that I started smoking lots more, and quit dumping the charcoaled hits. But lately I have started getting more picky about smoking the last 1/4 of the bowl.

I always save good clean indoor shake, and sift several grades of kief out, starting with white colored stuff, until it gets too green after several bouts of grinding and regriding and shaking on a mirror. Not so much as a "waste not" thing, but more cuz I like the flavor and high of it. Stems/stalks get burned as soon as the plants are dried.
I usually burn my outdoor shake, as it often has molds and other fungus growing on it, due to my often dark and wet finishing season.

Often a bag of dried shake forgotten the closet has gotten me through a dry time between harvests, or after other disasters that otherwise lead to lack of bud.

My ideal is to get to a point where I always grow way more than my "family" and myself could smoke before the next outdoor harvest, some "waste" can then be tollerated.

The whole reason I began growing my own was because of some of the problems mentioned above. I was sick of searching endlessly for shitty grade buds, being overcharged for them and never knowing when I will be able to score another sack. Not to mention, everytime you meet someone new it just may be Johnny Law.
I now have all the primo my heart desires and I admit, I do waste. But not much.
I know how bad it can be so I tend to be careful with what I have. Hell, I still save my resin and I have a chew can full. Just in case. Old habits are hard to break. I turn all my trash into hash or butter. I use a one hitter almost exclusively. And if I ever have a major surplus, I donate to friends in need.

I still take j leftovers and roll myself a fat ass blunt now and then, but as for those third generation blunts, there's just no need. Then again I'm a light smoker, and a skinny bastard, which means a little goes a long ways. I'm definitely not wasting popcorn nugs on hash this time around, the trimmings will get ISO'd but I'll smoke the rest of it.

Well I only smoke Joint and there's alot of branch(sp?) in the ashtray, and there's always some weed left on it, not alot but....a couple days ago my freind saw that and started to take all the weed out to smoke a bowl !
