So, I have a friend who just flew in town (moving to CA), and he was waiting outside to get picked up...some plainclothes officer comes up and asks if he's X individual, he says yes, they say a dog hit on his bag, asking if he has anything. Then another officer comes up. The vibe was chill, they asked him some standard preliminary questions, and then a third officer comes with a dog. He gives consent to search, they search, nothing shows up, they leave him alone...

Another instance a month or two back, a girl I know flew in town for a modeling gig, and when she landed the same thing occured, but she was approached in the baggage claim area by two plain clothes officers...they searched her shit, said the dog must've smelt something on another bag near hers, and let her on her way.

The girl didn't remember what sort of law enforcement they were, my male friend I forgot to ask. I just find this highly odd considering these are people flying TO Cali, not flying out of Cali....both incidents were at Sac Int'l...male landed at night, female during the day.

I'm not really worried about it, but me being curious I wanted to see if anybody had any similar experiences or theories behind this. I really can't wrap my head around it, and it's just odd that it's happened to more than 1 individual I know...maybe I need to go put on a tinfoil hat or something
SOUNDS LIKE WORK EXPERIENCE TO ME, SAME HAPPENS HERE IN IRELAND, ROOKIES TRAINING, NO HARM DONE IN THEIR EYES, SOMETIMES THEY PROBABLY GET LUCKY,,,,,,,,,,

^huh?

It was a rental car. Who's to say what scents were in it.

Dogs can easily be trained to hit on ques from their handlers. For this reason alone they should not be used for such type of searches. I think the local nitwits around here just teach their K-9s to pull on the leash, sit, and bark.
like he said... i believe the cop can just give a gesture to the k-9 in which they just bark after.. a clever way to say ''they got a hit'' and conduct a search without a warrant.

i had a buddy that was driving into the port of miami, when he got stopped and police searched his vehicle. they said they had a hit by the k-9 so they took a knife and ripped right through his leather seats. they found nothing.

they turned to him and said,'' oh well, at one point their must have been drugs in this car'' then sent him on his way.

Many of those drug dogs are just family pets not even trained...they take them to the front of the car where they are out of site and say "He hit He hit"...fucking traitors...

If you wanna play the game play it right, plan on having 10+k in retainer fees at all times. 10+k in multiple states with different attorneys if you have reason to believe that you might need them.

That makes more sense to have agriculture stops, but to fly you already have to go through security at least once....driving is the opposite. I've never driven into California and had to go through one of those stops, so I have little knowledge on those.

Do any other states have those border stops? I've driven through lots of states, but going through a border checkpoint was a first for me. I drove cross country when I moved here a few years ago. I wasn't expecting to be stopped and questioned on the way into California.

They didn't search the car, but they looked through the windows with a flashlight and asked a few questions. Where was I coming from and where was I going? Why was I moving to California? Was I bringing any plants or animals into the state? Yeah, the two cats there in the back seat. I probably would have been more nervous if I had brought drugs with me in the car. All I had with me was a little tincture to help me sleep at the hotels I stayed at.

Good way to raise funds for the LEO's and cash strapped cities.

Rental car out to make delivery, fly back in style...

The dog gets a hit, they have a a chance of finding $$$, herb(not likely), or nothing....

My 2 cents...

Because that grope image makes me so mad... A little help from Sherlock Holmes.

First, discombobulate. Slap both ear drums with palms of hand.

Gouge eyes, apply pressure; scramble if necessary.

Apply own crotch inspection with instep of foot. Check again, you might have missed something.

Push to ground and enjoy the flight, drinks are on the house.

Estimated time for recovery of United States Constitution, 4 years, 4 days, 7 hours, 2 minutes.

Yes, Dr. Potson, It was by design.

I got stopped in connecting flight to CA in AZ they asked to search my luggage didn't find shit or have shit of course left me alone. Shit had me on edge though

Male was searched by US Marshalls....they said they repeatedly asked him if he had firearms and/or weapons lol

That makes it strange-- The US Marshals don't investigate drugs, unless they are Federal fugitives, or a Federal Case that they are actively seeking major asset forfeitures-- :tiphat:

they are drafting everyone in a uniform to help fight the "war on drugs". game wardens in most states have a greater legal leeway on search & seizure than your average LEO because of the type of laws they are allegedly trying to enforce. once they stop you, you just KNOW they are going to "smell something".
