OG Kush not too stoked

Hey whats up ic mag, first post glad to be here.- havin some problems with these og clones. I swear its a mag def but i have done everything i can think of. got the rooted clones, put them in hydroton (rinsed), tap water bubbled for a day tds under 150 ph 7.0, (pen calibrated), floranova grow (well shaked and stirred), 50 ppm of calmag+, 5 mil pergal hygrozyme, floralicious+ with a total ppm of 650 ph between 5.8 and 6.5 .. the next week same approx ratio upped the ppms to 800-900. next week 1000 to 1100, tried foliar feeding just b4 lights came on (4-6 hr. dark period) with mild calmag+ when things started lookin sketchy. that didn't seem to do much so i top flushed clearex to waste, new res with clearex for 1 day, then new res -switched from flora nova to pbp grow. they look a little better , the roots are insane (i'm backin hygozyme) and they are growin but still look bummed. i'm usin an lp c02 generator. never dealt with chlorine in water i thought bubblin the shit out of it would work but i drank a cup of it after bubblin for a day and smelled/ tasted either chlorine or plastic maybe from the new can but it's been rinsed out. Any ideas?????

I personally would not use less than 5ml/gal CalMag with RO water and usually CalMag makes up from 1/2 (during veg) to 1/3 (during flower) of my total ppms. But you are using tap......so it's hard to say how much is in your water already. While your number may be 147.....that's 147 of WHAT? Something usable for your plant?

I find it tough to believe chlorine is your issue here......the plant would not have grown as large as it did if you had been using poor water the whole time. It appears as though something has changed. What changed first? The plant or the enviroment you put it in?

When you run the system does the ph come back the same as when you first use it? In other words.....are you constantly readjusting the ph in tub to keep it there after waterings?

From what I can see you are doing everything right. Sorry for all the questions but I'm just not sure why what's happening to your plants is happening.

weedhound- thanx for the reply. after reading everything i could find on this site i raised the temp on the ac up to 78, and started running c02, but the leaf edges started curling weeks before. so as far as the room it has changed for the better. I switched from floranova grow to pbp grow. i need the 65 gal res cuz the 40 i have now looses a couple inches a day, the tds goes up about 100 in 24 hours and the ph usually gets up around 6.5 so i have to top off with water every day.

get rid of the cal mag use when needed. If cal mag isnt helping, its not a mag prob. Go half strength on the floralicious. And last I would rather just use the 3 part general hydro over that nova product. Also I see on your airflow it says ac. So does that mean you only have air going into the grow room, if so that isnt what is making them yellow, but plants need co2 and if you arent circulating out the oxygen your plants are constantly making, they may grow slow. A candle can help eat up some of that excess oxygen. That is if you arent completely circulating air.

kusheater- those clones came complete with mites, didn't want to do much with sprays until healthier..
diego- yeah i'm over the nova, worked a while ago but i am switchin back to gh flora micro gro bloom when i flip to 12-12. It must be ego or somethin but i had a great run with bubba kush a couple years ago and just hammered em, started at 800 ppms in veg and went up to 1500 before flowering then went from 1500 up to 1800 and back down witha good flush, never had chemmie taste or any kinda lockout, other strains too, hash plant, afgooie, shiskaberry, lemon kush, purple kush etc.. is og that picky? are you sayin in general you never go above 1000 in veg or just with this plant?
airflow is ac with c02 burner, no intake, lots of air movement inside the room.
Thanx you guys for takin time to help...

I try not to go over a 1000ppm with any plants in veg., but that is just me. I know some people that don't follow a ppm regime at all and get good results too, so I think its more or less what the grower knows what works for them ya know.

Well if you are going light on the supplements you may well have a very good point. It just is odd looking for "nute burn" .....look at those tiny tips on the plants. For reason that's bothering me and I'm not sure why. It just reminds me of something and I can't remember what.

In fact Diego makes another good point that you may not even need Cal Mag at all with your tap water ppm of 147. Ours is 120 and works well for our soil plants sans CalMag.

Plus he seemed to see something in the bug department.....kudos for that as well.

Good luck, hope you work it out!!

I am not familiar with floronova products.
I am getting familar with OG Kush (per swerve cal/mag & nitrogen whores aka they need lots!).... OGs are tempermental bitches. Thats a big reason why the market for them is so high. Just work on dialing her in and keep notes - those will becom your roadmap.

I am familiar with magnesium & nitrogen deficiencies though.... the curling looks like mag def to me. Ever heard of "praying for magnesium?" Thats what it looks like to me... if I were you I'd add between 2.5ml/G to 5ml/G of Cal/Mag top to your reservior/nute solution when you mix your next batch. I would start at 2.5ml and if after a week it doesn't improve I would raise it to 5ml.

A little pure N (something like Metanaturals) added to the nute solution (maybe 1-2ml/G), as well as a couple of foliar apps (1ml/L water for sprays) should give the plant some extra energy to help it pull out of its funk. Add 5ml IVORY dishsoap as a surfacant (helps it stic to the leaf).

***I never follow label instructions.... I tend to start at 50% label strength and work my way up while watching how the plants respond... somethign for you to think about.

1000ppm is my cap for vegging plants... doens't seem too out of wack to me.

But I don't know shit about plants and growing man so I canot guarantee anything I am advising to work for you... but taking my own advice seems to work pretty good for me.

good luck!

Thanx for your replys. switched to 12/12, changed out nutrients to flora m-g-b, hygrozyme and half strength floralicious+. pH 5.8 ppm 1025 and gave a shower of avid for the mites. As bummed as they looked they still keep growin. Next I'll spread em out and start bendin and tyin down. I'll get some picks soon.
peaces..

Hey..just adding my 2cents but if you lower the temps to 72 it will aid your plant in a faster recovery. Does the tent have good air circulation? I have never used those tents but I made my own 3-mil tent in a garage 6 years ago and ventilation+heat=killed my dreams. The ph is cool but 5.9-6.0 has been optimal for me (in coco) on my project.

BuddahBoyee- I had the temp cooler then i read wick's post about og liking higher temps plus i was in veg and usin c02 but that was last week now i dropped it to 75 for a high. It's not really a tent it's a room built inside a room with a shitload of insulation framed, insulated, sheetrocked and then covered with the black and white poly. Thanx for checkin in and i like your west coast thong pic, nice.

Thanks, I wish you the best of luck in your gro. I was told by one of my mentors that 72 degree temps are gr8 for oger's. It worked gr8 last pull and I yielded 1 and 3/4 per 4 footer(finished plant) without co2.

Well these aren't quite 4' but they were close to 3' until yesterday when i spread em out and tied em down. each girl has her own 600 hortilux to herself so all 6 should be happy and we shouldn't have any katty drama in there.

Yeah lowered the ppms, they're around 1150 now 5.9 pH and a couple days into 12/12. bent and tied down, lights are 3 feet above tops. thanx..

SFV is definately a mag whore. I add 325ppms to RO, with a few pinches of Epsom salts on top of that. The chlorosis and tip burn says "flush me with calmg and stop using clearex on me!!!!" clearex will intensify the concentrations of ferts as it "clears" the salts from the medium. What happens Is those salts in the Rockwool accumulate, then clearex releases them highly concentrated and plants start to fry or lock up. Flush with water. Get rid of that clearex or use it to leach the lime and other rock elements out the wool to keep the ph stable. If you are going use that shit, you need to spray down the plants with water so the ferts don't try to store in the leaves as water is being directly applied, the foliage will not uptake that jolt of food clearing agents seem to do. I use a very similar food regiment, but my feedings or flushes are done when needed. Overwatering could be a factor too. Good luck!
