Odor

Any suggestions on eliminating the odor that comes out of an A/C window unit. It is not attached tot the window but to the wall an when the A/C is on I can smell the odor coming from the vents that blow the hot air outside. Any suggestions. I have two can filters and fans. One fan has 144 cfm and the other has 444 cfm. However I can still smell it and worried about neighbors.

Odor doesnt eminate from a window AC unit I know from much experience. The only conclusion I can come to is the odor is coming from it not being sealed airtight in the wall, otherwise it would work the same as a window unit.If window units spat out schtank I'd been dead long ago

Look into some backup with a vaportek unit, Carbon filters are good but only where they control the outlet, put one of these in front of your ac unit.

They're not the cheapest, but I have total peace of mind with them, I run a carbon scrubber in my main tent, but outside that I have mothers in a wardrobe, this unit covers all the smell in the room apart from the bud room, and any leakages and I'd not grow without one again.
When I harvest and am cutting in the kitchen etc, I would put this connected to a plug inside the front door to create a neutralising cushion with the unit.
Great piece of kit, possibly one of the better security investments I made, if you use some of the bigger industrial units you won't even need a carbon scrubber, if you seal your room well.

Won't that make it terribly expensive and inefficient to run?
That money could be employed taking safety precautions.

I think he meant vent the hot air off the motor outside rather than back in the room. Personally, I have never seen this feature, and my window units have always just had a passive vent for the motor on the back of the unit. Air was drawn and exchanged only back into the room. It would be more efficient venting hot motor air, if such a switch exists, but it is a bad feature for odor control.

The same problem can be had by in room units with only 1 duct for exhaust, rather than 2. The 1 duct draws from in the room and exhausts stinky air. The 2 duct is a closed system, essential for odor control.

I just hooked up my vaportek last night if you where to build a custom box (milk crate with cloth) or anything to hold vaporizer and cover intake you will not have odor problems just the smell of a clean hospital. I definately would do that before ozone and my second choice would be carbon. hidhut.com has vaportek make sure your order filter with unit as it doesnt come with a stock one but man do they kick ass.

I find that small vaportek unit perfect as a backup to carbon in my relatively small setup, but I do remember someone, I "think" it was rezdog on OG, using the large Vaporteks completely to neutralise his grow by creating a cushion effect at the end of his room by hanging curtains, this made a buffer zone that the smell didn't get through.
Great products, can't recommend them highly enough.
After a very short while you won't even smell the stuff coming from the vaportek the smell is so minimal from them.
