Odor of young Veg plants...indicates potency???

Wanted to ask everyone if they have ever noticed this. Years ago a grower(whom grew the best Ive had to date ) told me that good smoke stinks in early veg. Since that time, Ive always tested my stock by rubbing a leaf stalk in my fingers and seeing how it smells. In the past I noticed certain strains had no odor..and ended up sub par. But the stinky ones seemed always to be potent. My Bubba S-1's started out strong for odor and have now slacked off. PTK has hardly any odor , and what it does have is lemon-ish. Thoughts ,opinions, and experiences please!

dont know, have been talking about this with someone. I popped 5 of my own haze cross seeds , and there was 1 real stinky in veg. But i dont think she was the best smoke. But we will do another testgrow with them soon.

not sure either... The other day, I was taking cuts from a new Big Buddah Cheese Mom, from seed...... My hands became sticky, I already knew it stunk in veg, but this has got to indicate potential juiciness.>>!

Not necessarily. Consider low odour strains like Northern Lights, Cinderella 99 etc - both very potent, but low odour, even during flowering. The smell has more to do with things like terpenes/terpenoids than cannabinoids.

Hearsay. Stinky veg is just a variable, doesn't affect the end result. To use a misogynistic metaphor: Some stinky pussy is boring and some stinky pussy will rip your dick off.

Nice, Dislexus..... Women do read these posts, as well...

There are 2 phenos that I have seen, of the cheese, so far, one is dank and cheesy, sort of a Kush Bottom. Absolutely unreal flavour...

The other is cheesy, but more fruity. Less dank. A bit more airy on the density. Very sweet... If there are others, I will find 'em, as I have 5 new moms from seed.

Below, the first pheno mentioned. Both photos are of the same clone...

This seems to be true most of the time but not always.
For example some Thai strains have a very similar earthy smell in veg but then turn out totally different in the end.
But my Kush hybrids and Chemdawg clones stink in veg.
The chemdawg 91 smells like buds in veg almost. Like stinky cleaning fluid/fuel.
