Odd Seedling Sprout

Hey all,
I am in the process of sprouting a couple beans that were passed down from a friend, some Lifesave X Milkado feminished. Anywho, the first lady popped her head about soil today, and I took off her helmet very gently. I was wandering if this is normal, since I haven't quite seen a seed behave the way this one has without it's first set starting to appear. Here are a few pic, any ideas whats up with her?

Why do you have them planted in wet mud? Theres no air in the medium and roots need air to grow well.

yea get them out of that mud, and from the pics it looks normal for a seedling tat just came out of its shell

ya just like everyone said, wet= root rot and it will die, seedlings need to be kept moist while the root gets itself stablised but the air to the roots is critical, at this time they are very delicate and once they get a problem they are most likley screwed and will stunt or die if something happens to that first tap root

get your seedling in some seed start mixture and transplant 2 weeks after into some good soil with perlite and dolomite limestone for ph adjusting and its got magnseium and calcium

your seedling is absolutly fine for now, the seed you took off would of dropped soon but since you took it off early and what your seeing is the seed to start forming into cotyledons and then later its first sets of leaves :)

since your plants are fem's make absolutly sure your growing conditions are prime, noo ver watering no underwatering, no over fertilizing and such

stress will trigger hermapadites and pollinate your whole crop and there goes your sisimea crop

It's not really in mud, that picture was taken right after I doused the top of the soil with a water bottle since it was getting dry. There is a lyer of perlte on the bottom and middle which cannot be seen. What do you suggest I go with, more perlite?

I'm just a good old dirt famer growing organic in soil with Pure Blend nutes. :smoker: I do plan to transplant to a new soil mix of soil, blood, bone, perlite, and lime once they get a little larger and the mix isn't too rich for them. So the concensus is too much water/mud factor?

cannabis requires a fast-draining sandy soil.
what you are doin is called lasagna-gardening and i bet you get zero run-off no matter how much u water :smoker:
bein able to see when the first few drips come out the bottom helps in not overwaterin.

mix the perlite into the soil before planting!
soil tilth is also very important.
that is mud. :) till-in lots of perlite no matter what stage of growth yer at.

50% perlite, 20% worm casting, and 30% promix or sunshine mix potting soil
is a great mix to start seeds and even grow the plants in till the end
providing you feed the properly throughout their lifetime with liquid nutrients.
however, if you are an old garden hand, and know yer shit :D ,
id suggest transplantin into a complete & well-aged 'super soil' once they bind to the starting container.

The pot the seedling in now currently actually drains quite well when watered.
Once the root structure is a little more formed, I will transplant into something less "muddy" as you guys call it:lol: , but for now I dont want to potentially destroy this little girl transplanting her into something with more perlite.

What kind of setup do you have? Are you growing indoors or outdoors?

Well I had originally planned to take these girls outside, but its almost getting too late in the season for that now if I want to get any veg. growth out of them at all. I just acquired a 600W HPS cool tube kit with a digital ballast that could come in use, just need to find a place to grow these out as I'm not in the best living situation for cannibus right this second. Right now I have this seedling and 3 others who haven't popped soil yet on a heatmat under a 26W CFL.

Small bit of friendly advice is to go with the advice, take it in and apply some action. When four people tell you your sprout is in mud, its because we can see it based on the picture.

Verite,
I am open to any and all suggestions, I simply didn't see any besdies adding more perlite. I got a couple responses saying it was mud, and I replied saying I agree with this but do not want to damage the little girl transplanting to a similar medium, just with more perlite. What was your suggestion? :smoker:

I've been very interested in buying a Mikado cross. I'd really like to see how you do so I can get a report on how it smokes crossed with lifesaver.

Ya, the beans were acquired from an old member at OG who was a very skilled grower. I wish he was still and and we still had access to those pictures, but from what I saw of the strain, it's perfect for SOG as it grows litterally like a baseball bat; appeared and sounded to be some very good smoke. I'll start a grow thread once I finish my setup and a few more sprout

The good thing with useing a good amount of perlite(myself i only use somit like 70% soil(cheap soil)30% perlite)Is that it helps the roots break thru the soil and grow better, also helps to airiate the soil to maybe let oxygen into the root system aswell...

The only prob with waiting a week before u transplant is will it last a week?
Of course the same prob is IF u transplant now(and a bit rough)WIll it live*smileS*

Its your call m8(Eitherway think of it as a experiment)

That is my take on it

Anyway how they doing now?
U have a lovely light system there(If u can find a place to use it you be laughing)

Even tho its a 600 if it has a cool tube u would probs get away with useing it in a wardrobe(PLenty of them designs about)

Anyway good luck m8

Anyone have an idea what rated CFM fan would be needed to cool a 6" cool tube in a c13 or c22 cabinet? I was looking into Vortex 449 cfm 6" inline fan. Would this be enough to keep a cab cool with a 600W cool tube and the fan sucign right off it? Any suggestions are more than welcome as Im trying to better my exhaust system for the upcoming ladies
