OBE: Out of body experience

Hi there!
I don't know it it is the ight section, if it isn't please move the topic in the right section.

Does anyone have experimented an OBE?
What is an OBE?

An out-of-body experience (OBE or sometimes OOBE) is an experience that typically involves a sensation of floating outside of one's body and, in some cases, seeing one's physical body from a place outside one's body (autoscopy). Approximately one in ten people claim to have had an out-of-body experience at some time in their lives.[1] For some, the phenomenon occurs spontaneously, while for others it is linked to dangerous circumstances, a dream-like state, a near-death experience, or use of psychedelic drugs. A few have been able to induce the experience deliberately through visualizations while in a relaxed, meditative state, or through a lucid dream. Relatively little is known with certainty about OBEs.[2] Recent studies have shown that OBEs can be induced by stimulating the angular gyrus at the temporal-parietal lobe junction.

In some cases, the subject of an OBE has either willed themselves out of their bodies or found themselves being pulled from their bodies (these were usually preceded by the feeling of paralysis). In other cases, the feeling of being outside the body was something suddenly realized after the fact; the subjects saw their bodies almost by accident. [3]

Subjects claim they can (at will or otherwise) see a silver cord linking their astral form to their physical body. This cord mainly appears to a beginning traveler as assurance they will not become lost. However, even experienced travelers find it useful, claiming it is a fast way to return to the body.

The OBE is not generally long; on the order of a minute or so. Those who experience an OBE may note that the subjective experience is much longer than the objective time passing.

The OBE may or may not be followed by other experiences which are self-reported as being "as real" as the OBE feeling; alternatively, the subject may fade into a state self-reported as dreaming, or they may wake completely. The OBE is sometimes ended due to a fearful feeling of getting "too far away" from the body. Many end with a feeling of suddenly "popping" or "snapping" back into their bodies.

Some subjects experience spiritual epiphanies; others experience a general feeling of peacefulness and love; still others experience fearfulness and anxiety. Finally, some experience only the OBE itself, with no direct spiritual experience.
A majority describe the end of the experience as "then I woke up". It's worth noting that even (perhaps especially) those who describe the experience as something fantastic that occurs during sleep, and who describe the end of the experience by saying "and then I woke up", are very specific in describing the experience as one which was clearly not a dream; many described their sense of feeling more awake than they felt when they were normally awake. One compared the experience to that of lucid dreaming, but said that it was "more real".

So, anybody never tried an OBE, Spontaneous or not?
I wanted to tell of one to you of a my friend much expert, but I'm not good to use the past and I would become incomprensible

I've had a few OBE's over the years.

I had one last year where I walked out to the living room window and flew out of it into the night sky..coolest thing that's ever happened to me hands down

no i don't mean have a trip using drugs like salvia or mushrooms.
OBE's aren't inducted by drugs!

yes they are but you dont have the same kind of control. It takes years of practice to gain the lucidity it takes to explore and do something meaningful.

I've had some crazy experiences/feelings that are hard to explain. had similar events when smoking salvia extract or on mushrooms

I have tried with limited success to meditate. maybe need more practice

also I want to build/buy one of these dreamachines. seems pretty cool to me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamachine

the Dreamachine is made from a cylinder with slits cut in the sides. The cylinder is placed on a record turntable and rotated at 78 RPM or 45 RPM. A light bulb is suspended in the center of the cylinder and the rotation speed allows the light to come out from the holes at a constant frequency, situated between 8 and 13 pulses per second. This frequency range corresponds to alpha waves, electrical oscillations normally present in the human brain while relaxing.

The Dreamachine is "viewed" with the eyes closed: the pulsating light stimulates the optical nerve and alters the brain's electrical oscillations. The "viewer" experiences increasingly bright, complex patterns of color behind their closed eyelids. The patterns become shapes and symbols, swirling around, until the "viewer" feels surrounded by colors. It is claimed that viewing a Dreamachine allows one to enter a hypnagogic state. [citation needed] This experience may sometimes be quite intense, but to escape from it, one needs only to open one's eyes.

we have them all the time.
the hard part is remembering them.

keep a dream journal, write in it first thing, before you move!
then you will start remembering your dreams, if not you can go over your journal and sometimes it tiggers a memory.

a few big hits of nitrous oxide have had an extremely strange effect on me
very similar out of body feeling... insane rushing thoughts compacted into what seems like hours, but is actually 10 seconds or less, then u feel like u snap right back to reality not remembering that i took the wippit....

fucked up shit

lol would you like to make a wager on that claim? :chin:

Maybe you should expand your inventory a bit? :chin:

for sure, OBE's are inducted by allucinogens, but from the relax of your body. A joint can help i think if you can keep up your concentration

back when i was in the army<late 80s early 90s> they had a cough syrup called "aafes red" dont know what was in it that set us off, but it supplied the best trips i have ever had!!!!! and ive had more then my share from every drug you can think of<none but cannabis, mushrooms and alchohol since sept. of 99> not talking bout nyquil here, this was potent, potent stuff!!!!! anyway....one of many nights spent sluggin that nasty crap down, i left my body and was observing myself and the 4 or 5 others passed out in various positions in my barracks room from the ceiling! i have always believed that alot of the effects were not just from the drug, but our intense desire to trip again, with friends and get a little piece of what we had all left behind when we joined up. However, the effects of this stuff could not be explained by this alone. any old military here remember this stuff or have similar experience?

Woa! A real OBE at the first time ever?
Man, you consider yourself an lucky man. Have you supposed to retry an similar experience but without the syrup?

i have found myself floating above, but it wasnt drug induced.
a part of me is still afraid of obe, as i think a lot of ppl are, so thats why i dont remember them often. looking at your body when you are floating over it, pretty wierd.

the first time i found myself floating above freaked the hell out of me so i woke up, and i have been reading everything i could get my hands on so i expecting it too!
but yea still wierd cuz it feels real. so vivid.
