Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush) Day Before Chop

Strain is Obama Kush (Afghani x OG Kush), which is a really popular strain in my state. Seems like every dispo in the area carries a jar of it. Regardless, it is some straight kill no doubt

Unfortunately up until this point I've only had this very small area to veg in:

The four plants started in starter pots under a 4-bulb T5, then went to 1 gals under the 4-bulb, then to 5 gal smart pots under a 6-bulb T5. Because of very limited space I did a decent amount of topping, but didn't have any real room to train them at all for the most part.

Because of the small veg area, I ended up throwing the 5 gal smart pots into 10 gal plastic pots on the day of flip (still in the smart pots), filling in the space between with more coco. I also tied down the plants in the first week of flower which I'm sure stressed them out. All in all the situation was far from ideal but I tried to make the most of it.

Alright, enough excuses, time for some pics! Plants were vegged for about 8 weeks, and flowered for about 8 weeks. All these pics are from today, day 59, and I will be chopping them tomorrow.

Tray looks filled in enough right? Well after defoliating and pulling off the fan leaves with no crystals on them it was a way different picture...

The buds are just straight caked... Can't tell as much with the method 7 pics, here's another one with flash and no method 7s:

Definitely a stinky plant. Kinda like a sweet skunt smell, but it's hard to describe. Anytime you bump the tray it reeks like hell.

Goal was to pull 2lbs from the tray (there are three 600w HPS above it) but honestly don't think I'll get that much unfortunately

When I got the clones I was told that it is a pretty moderately yielding strain, not very big buds. I might also be dealing with root aphids (not sure yet), and I've never seen anyone elses Obama kushs growing, so it's hard for me to tell if these bud sizes are normal or if they are smaller than average...

I'm also finally finishing up a proper-sized veg space, so in the future I can actually have plants that are bigger and will fill in the screen much better in future runs. I still have a lot to learn about canopy management and maximizing a scrog screen though!

Either way I'm excited for the smoke, it's definitely a very nice strain.

Got her all chopped down today:

After seeing it all on the rack I feel slightly more confident about the yeild... with other strains 1 shelf rack is usually like 1.5lbs, so maybe I'll hit 2. Who knows though considering every strains density is different.

I actually find it kind of beautiful in it's own weird way... Love looking at the stem structuring.

Thanks for dropping by Dank Frank! I was just going by what leafly said actually for what the genetics are... I definitely trust icmag more than leafly though so I went ahead and asked the guy I got it from. He said it was Afghani x OG kush also

Well if you're in OR it shouldn't be too hard to find, it seems like the buds are in every dispensary around here... I got the cut from a local dispo (actually the only one in town I personally feel safe getting cuts from) which had it available for a few days. I'd go on leafly and see what you can find out. Good luck!

word, which dispo did you pick it up at?

No #s yet... still drying them (I like to dry them slowly), probably put them in bins in 2-3 days. Burp them in the bins for a week or so, then trim them up and jar them... So probably won't have any #s for like 2 weeks at least. I like a good dry/cure

It is, without question - Mendo Purps x Bubba...

The guy you got it from is misinformed. You should correct him and tell him you got the correct information from the person who MADE the cut...

Buds are still drying... took one of the smallest ones last night and trimmed it up. All I did was cut 2 of the tiny fan leaves off and snip a few leaf ends up:

Gorgeous looking Obama @Bad Habits...While there are mutltiple hybrids/cuts that are all named Obama Kush (from Portland, San Diego, Michigan, Etc...) what you have is without a doubt the Portland Obama Kush.

My buddy and I actually talked with Leafly at the HT Seattle cup a couple weeks ago and are working to help them correct some of their erroneous lineages on certain strains.
