NYLD - Have I eff'ed these up?

Hi again!

Long time no see ICMAG auto community!

The dwarf pheno sour60 medicine is dwindling, so I figured it might be time to start over!

This time thing's aren't going so well.

Around 4/25 I germ'd my six pack of UKCheese's NYLD F2.
They popped through soil around 4/28, making these 2.5 weeks or so old.

The first two weeks they were given insufficient light, and an unknown soil concontion of perlite, vermiculite, seed starter mix and FFOF. They're in 16oz. party cups, but something isn't going well. They look stunted (sure hope not, I'd like to make seeds!) The leaves are curled and warped, light green in color and feel dry/brittle.

They were under a single 42w 2700k CFL with varied lighting for the first week due to my unstable grow location. For week two, they were placed under a single T5.
Now they are in a stable home under my 150w HPS and next to my 149w CFL power strip. The light stays on 24/0 and temps fluctuate from 65*F to 78*F depending on the outdoor weather and day/night. (They're in my basement)

Any advice? You'd think that after my fourth round with auto's I'd have things down, but this new strain threw me for a loop. (Not to mention my half-ass'ed start) Do they need to be flushed? Transferred to bigger pots?
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the pictures.
The six bigger plants are the NYLD. The four smaller seedlings are some more dwarf Sour60 I started as a backup medicine plan.

hey happycamper15 by the looks of things i would say over or under watered due to the curling i have also had this problem when using smaller pots / party cups with verm mix in them its hard to get the watering rite in a pot that small i now go for a all soil mix in at least 1 litre untill they show sex then pot them into large pot containing verm pelite and other goodies after sexing but this is just my observation based on the pics shown and i have no knowledge of the soil brand your using i wish you the best in your grow and i hope a more experienced grower will be along shortly give a more detailed answer !

p . s

just checked out the grows in your name tag wow ! they all looked great i am sure you will iron out the issues you have !

Thanks alone. Here is a little update.

The NYLD have all been repotted, and found a new home. They're still under 150w hps, with an additional 253w of 2700k CFL for a total of about 403 watts. Not bad for considering the 4 tier mini greenhouse I grow in is only 19" x 27", about 3.5 sq. ft.

They're looking healthier since transplant, but unfortunately I have 4 confirmed males, one confirmed female, and one unknown that will probably be a female.

Onto some pictures.

First pic is of my setup with lights on. Fan blowing upward from the ground, and temps stay between 70 and 81F.

Again, lights on. Here is a rundown of the plants.
White container, back left is unknown NYLD.
The other white container is a NYLD male, along with the two in square pots and the one in a half gallon milk jug in the right rear.
The clear container between the white jugs is the female.

In front, I have started 4 sour60 seeds. 2 in 16oz cups and 2 in small round planters, probably 20oz or so. They're cruising nicely.

Again, NYLD left to right... unknown, female, male.

A shot of the four sour60's. Theyll be repotted within the next couple days.

A shot of the 4 NYLD males. Not sure which I will be using to make seeds with yet.

Things are looking better!

Thoughts? Tips? Opinions!

Don't put lights at ground level, it confuses the plants. The lights should be above the plants.
Other than that it looks good.

Thanks smog. The only one at planter level is a strip of 97w CFL. Not sure where else to put them, but once I replant the Sour60's I will find a place to hang them up.

Cheers,

edgey

i'm sure cheesey will be able to help out :)

they are looking better though . by the looks of thing the low light and dodgy soil mix took there toll a bit but they should pull back round , i've got some of these i'm waiting to plant myself :)

good luck and keep us updated

Thanks Edgey. They seem to be bouncing back nicely. Cannabis sure is a resilient plant. I might have to post something in Cheesey's seed thread. I will certainly keep this updated.

Good luck with your seeds

Update - 5/23

Update - 5/23

Of the NYLD 6 pack, I ended up with 2 females and 4 males. Its time to choose which male and female I will be using to make seeds with. I had a wonderfully detailed post all ready to submit, but something went wrong and I lost it, so this post will be concise.

Pictures.

The NYLD males.

I am leaning toward choosing the thicker, healthier and more vigorous male in the white tropicana jug. It has the best smell, stem thickness, and healthy thick indica dom leaves.

The two NYLD females. The one in the white container was a slow growing runt, but has just showed sex and is quite healthy. Which should I choose to makes seeds with?

In other news, I've transplanted the 4 sour60's. Hope they show sex by Sunday.

Here's the cabinet. 150w HPS plus 156w CFL lighting up 2 NYLD females, 4 NYLD males, and 4 sour60's in it right now (males not in pictures)

I plan to put my chosen female/male together, isolated outdoors to do their thing and hopefully make 100+ seeds.

I will leave 1 NYLD female under the light as well as the female sour60's.

So, which female would you choose to make seeds? Which male?

Thanks all.
Hope I don't loose all this text again.

Cheers!:tiphat:

It's been too long!

It's been too long!

Hello again. I apologize for the interruption in this journal. Life always seems to get hectic mid-grow.

Time for an update on the NYLD and Sour60. It's almost harvest time!

Smaller NYLD: Few more days!

Sour60#2 - Decent plant, seems to have developed some deficiency that the others have not. Smells good, should yield nicely as well.

Final Sour60 - Outdoor plant. Lower yield. Lighter in color. Given less light than others.

I will probably chop the two indoor s60 and smaller NYLD this week.

Not Vitamin C or Calcium in that container lol.

Nice results though!

But it sure is citrus-y!

Think its time to chop? Given my first post my im guessing the NYLD are 10 week 5 days from popping while the S60 are probably just around 9 weeks old.

Think its chop time? My trich scope isn't working very well.

Do you have a set of binoculars?

if you do and you can unscrew one of the smaller lenses this works as a good alternative to a loop.

Remainder of the harvest!

Remainder of the harvest!

Time for a closing. Here are some dried pics of the NYLD and Sour60s. Both are receiving wonderful feedback. The better looking sour60 is nearly all gone besides one small nug, which is in the very last picture. I would say on average I received 15-20 grams per plant. Not bad for 4 plants under a single 150w hps. Probably about .5 gpw. Not bad. Temperatures are excessively high in the shed. Sometimes topping near 90 degrees F. Way too hot. This plus the lack of lumens are resulting in light fluffy airy buds.

I plan on investing in a 400hps soon. The only problem is will be temperature control. Anyways, here are the pics.

Larger, older NYLD

Sour60

NYLD 2 - smaller

The last of the better looking Sour60.

The sour60 I had left outdoors isnt worth posting pictures of.

Well that wraps it up. Thanks for sticking along folks. I have some of my pinkbuds started now. Unfortunately of the 12 seeds, two did not germinate. varmints dug up two of the remaining ten, and katydids ate the leaves off three plants. So I have two females, and 4 males, with a hermie.

Hope I get some purple on one of the females. Wish me luck
