NYCD x SD IBL

I thought I'd post up some shots of these as they come down. The NYCD mom is some of the best tasting, mouth filling weed ever, tart grapefruit to rhubarb flavors with lots of underlying earthy funk. She was found in a 2003 pack from Soma. She's a very Afghani expression of NYCD and, unbelievably, finishes to ambers in 52 days. She smokes nice...on the narcotic side, heavy body stone. I grew out a pack of Sour Diesel IBL and found the stinky father in the cross. What I was hoping was to combine the quick finishing, rock hard nugs of the mom with the more soaring, hard hitting SD.

Not much else to add that the pics won't say, except that I'm super stoked on how they grew. After chopping the first few, I can say the yield is gonna be very nice. Very dense buds that resemble the mom on steroids. There are some scent variations, but all of them have the distinctly sour smell and greasy resin. I'm hoping one will retain the NYCD flavor of the mom.

To me, they resemble some of the Chem DD that I've seen grown...maybe someone else could comment that's grown that strain. Hope you enjoy these because I sure am. Thanks everybody!!

Yeah, that's what I've been planning on doing, greenmango. Just wanted to run some first to make sure they'd be worth growing. I'll send some off soon after the new year, most likely. Thanks for looking!

That looks like a killer cross. When I grew Soma's NYCD, it reaked of the smell of diesel exhaust, but after the cure it had a nice herbal/fresh flower smell. Great work D!

killer cross! dramamine im suprised that you nycd mom is indica dom.. very nice find... i think its always great to cross sd with indica... it makes big buds... hope it keeps that grapefruity rhubarb thing with some kick ass diesel stone.. nice work!

Well, I couldna asked for more out of this cross. I found not one, but two females out of ten that were identical in smell and taste to the NYCD mom. Not similar, but exactly the same flavor. Unmistakeable...but the high hits hard like the SD, which was what I'd hoped. I can't stop smoking it. The other phenos are sour, yet more toward the SD lemony skunk. Nothing wrong with that, for damn sure. All the stories about SD males working magic are true, it seems.

Anyway, I'm really glad these came together so well and I've sent a large number of freebie 5 & 10-packs to the bay a couple days ago. Here's a little dry nug action....

I've been running some cuts of my favorite phenos. One I cut yesterday at 50 days probably could've come down a couple days ago. The strange thing is that this plant finished up with some purple tones in some of the leaves and buds on the seed run, but as a clone she went almost fully purple/black...all the leaves, all over the plant. Temps haven't varied much, either. I didn't get a full plant shot, but here are some aftermath pics, including some purple iso in the works (it needs to go through the strainer again ). What a trip...I figured the resin would oxidize and lose the purple, but, nope...still there.

..and here's the jelly hash pile from the first run...iso and ice water hash all mixed up. 20g or so now. I didn't have the heart to mix the purple one into it yet..
