Okay, so here I am, NYC, the Big Apple. Being midwesternish, NYC is overwhelming. Everything about it is bigger, better, and cooler.
So i've decided to resort to the street/open air market. Now, I've heard about activity at Washington Sq Park but also heard its pretty hot and rip offs abound. I decided to walk around midtown and say things like "hashish?" and "haze?" or "diesel?" as i passed by unscrupulous looking folks. Some dude tried to sell me dub bags of brownish leafy shit, which i took to be tobacco from cigs or something like that ..."man that looks brown..." ...."nah man, its real weed!"
right...
keep in mind this is within one block of ourapartment in a nice area. 2 blocks and a nice, clean cut black man later, and i have some flame NYC haze in my pocket, safe and sound. No drama, rip offs, or BS, just good dro. This dude was straight. i said "hashish" and within a fews steps we were making a deal. At first the baggies looked small, but upon examination it turned out to be straight 1.0g. He even decided that since i looked like a straight cat and not some stupid tourist to give me the "in town price" and not the "out of towners tax", which i was very glad of. I am assuming that he would gladly shell out a .5g dime bag for the $20 price or tax the 1.0g dub at $25-30 if he thought he could and felt a bad vibe or some other reason like he just wants to see how much he can actually get. He was selling dimes and dubs, at $10 and $20, respectively.
.5 or 1gram. Legitimate price, NYC where dude coulda just as easily ripped me off and sold me green paper in a bag.
I look at this as pure luck, but considering the market out there, one is bound to find ANYTHING they want. I had the chance to get coke, e, rocks, and heroin all within 5 blocks of our crib. If a deal doesnt seem right, or if the product is questionable, just say NO!! they will find someone stupider to rip off. If you can hold off, be patient, and not snatch the first deal that comes your way, you will be walking away with a fair priced bag of goodies. Just say the words, and the dealers will pick up on it and approach you. Try to find dudes that look slightly seedy but also blend in as a regular average joe. The dude i got the haze from was a 20something black guy in nice jeans and a polo, looked like an NYU student. Try to avoid homeless junkies! As a concientous consumer, use your gut feelings, and take a good deal if it presents itself, otherwise, keep looking! you will find it if you have the patience and are looking for it in the right spots.
Again, no stereotyping, it just seems that most of these street level guys are afro-american, latino, or hispanic. Obvi not all of them, but in my experience, 5 out of 5 street dealers i made contact were not caucasian.
People who actually live in NYC, please post too! I'm absolutely fascinated by the city and all it has to offer and I am really curious about how the drugs trade works here. It appears that there are so many different levels involved.
I think that markets like this exist in NYC simply becuase of how huge and massive and densely populated it truly is. Massive is an understatement. Even compared to Paris, NYC is massive. Smaller cities have a higher per capita police ratio, which means more cops per person. Cuz theres so much shit goin down in NYC, what are the chances of a guy actually getting popped for selling grams of bud? very slim in my mind. This is contigent upon said dealer being able to blend in well enough, and not staying in one spot too long. If these precautions are met, I can see people making a killing at the corner dealer/street game.
I"m done rambling, just the fact that i can buy drugs on an actual street corner and have it be real still blows my mind....INPUT PLEASE!!!
