Nutrient Help

anyone who has been growing for a while wanna break down what nutrient and food solutions they use? i have read the chapter in the growing bible and am still a little hazy. I don't wanna get to scientific, I just really want brand names and frequency of use...

Might be easier asking for a show of hands for the people that not only use the same nutes but also uses them the same way. Peoples ferts and regemins are like snowflakes, no two alike.

Every fert, regemin, strain, growtool, medium comes with a learning curve that is seldom read.

Verite is dead-on with his comments. There are so many choices and more often than not nutrient regimes are decided on based on how much money you have to spend on them. Then theres the on-going debate of organic -vs- chemical nutrients. That opens up a whole other can of worms that we don't want to get into here and now.

Most rookie growers will either use Fish Emulsions, Bat Guano, Worm Castings and the like because they are relatively inexpensive and are all organic. Other growers will resort to the good ol' General Hydroponics line of nutrients because they are readily available and everyone has used them at one time or the other. I, myself, chose to go with the Advanced Nutrients line as they are the only nutrient line specifically designed for cannabis and they do (by far) the most research to improve the performance of cannabis plants. Additionally, their customer support (available daily on their 800 line) is the best in the business, period, and you don't have to talk about "these tomato plants" you have growing. You can tell them specifically what strain you are growing and they will help you dial in your nute regime for your plants. They also have an awesome "nutrient calculator" on their website that you can adjust to your res size, soil or hydro and even different strengths of nutrient mixes and it will tell you EXACTLY how much of each nutrient to add to you mix. Here's a link to their website.

Either way you go you need to do your research about what products do what and make your decisions based on that and your budget. There's no other way around it and understanding your nutrients will also keep you from burning your plants up! I can't recommend Advanced Nutrients more highly! However, be prepared to spend several hundred dollars if you want to get a full regime of any major line of nutrients. If your budget is more limited, I'd go with some basic organic nutes like the fish emulsion (even though it stinks like shit), worm castings and such. But you will need other nutes when you go into flower if you want to get the most buddage from your plants. Hope this helps!

Thanx for the info. I am currently just using worm castings and I guess I need to find out what those other chemicals would be to maximize my yield. Currently I am having a hard time getting buds to fill in on plants to their maximum potential.

I am also having a hard time getting the full potential of the flavor and high of the strains I have... I am investing in a co2 system which will hopefully help the situation more...

Well didn't mean to bore you with my life's story, I just wanted to give you a little more backround on the problems that I am having...

Verite and Rellik are right of course... if you're simply growing for yourself I've found you can get by not spending a huge amount of money buying some of the organic blends (I use Pure Blend Pro & Earth Juice myself)... it's lasted me a # of grows.

You still run-up against the "not made specifically for Canna" problem... but I've been quite happy with the results nonetheless... Even if I don't get the same results as if I used AN: the good stuff.
