Nutrient Burn... How fast?

Hey All,

I looked and looked around in here and i did not see any answers to this question.....

How fast does nutrient burn occur after watering?

IN SOIL?

and

IN HYDRO SYTEMS?

For Example..... IF i water my plants with a slightly aggressive fertilizer mix.... in a coco medium How long will it take to start showing if too much was added???

I know there is alot of people here who may need this answered and PLENTY of cats to help... SO BUMP THIS THREAD!

Typically a plant in soil will show effects in about 3-4 days, a plant in hydro (depending on if you can see the roots, ie: DWC, ebb&flow) will show withing 24-48 hours.

its not as easy as that..
it depends how much they already have, how much extra you feed them and how many leaves it has.

one aggressive feeding may not burn at all, if the plant has lots of ferts stored already then it may burn in 3-5days in soil.

i will tell you this, dont feed aggressively! a light feed once a week can still be too much and the first signs are very dark leaves and the tips curling, if you carry on then the tips burn.

Ya, smokey is mainly right about it, but it also depends on strain and the information smokey gave. So everyone here gave correct information, due to many factors depending on how fast the burn shows.

soiless mediums can show problems quicker than soil and near as fast as hydro. Coco and peat moss mainly mixtures. Not used together I mean, just seperate as used as mediums.

Thanks everyone! Very good responses!

So i notice today that my ladies are curling a bit.... However they are always dark green maybe forest green..... Is this a problem? Am I always over doing it?

Would an immediate flush with clearex be in need?

Coco/Perlite in 2 gallon containers..... Flush with 2 gallons of water?

If the leaves are curling down it could be a slight overnute problem. Soil is fairly forgiving of mistakes. Hydro not so much.

curling up? it might be something else causing that.
you should really post pictures, because its hard to give advice to you on what we would do if we had your plants.

OK, So...
This thread was start out as a "i got this friend who's got this problem" thing... I was thinking i may have done something wrong and i was wondering what the masses had to say...
Let me post it up with all the info and see what i got!

Soilless B'Cuzz Coco 60%/Perlite 30% 10%silica by sunleaves and a small portion of peat.

Sensi Star/ Blue Cheese (BBCheese x Blueberry) / Self bred 50/50 mix seeds
What was the establishing technique? SEED
Age 26 days
5 - 7 ''
What PHASE (vegetative) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? LST
What size pots are you using? 2 Gallon Nursery pot

Botanicare Tri - Flex 3 part
Liquid Karma
Mexican Gauno
Sweet
Superthrive
Magical/ Cal/Mag

PH IN: 6.2
PH OUT: 5.8

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips
How often are you watering 3-5 days
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding Friday... every other
What size bulb are you using 400watt HPS/MH
What is the distance to the canopy 19"
What is your RH Factor? 58%
What is the canopy temperature 73 - 77 lights on 67-69 Lights out

What is the current Air Flow? 185 CFM Direct exhaust and 80 cfm intake

Stop using the h202, it does kill the benifical bacteria.

How often are you using superthrive? If you use it more than once a month, I would at all cost stop using it that often. What is the dosage you are using?

Dark green means nitrogen toxicity, when you add the curling leaves it just sums it up that it's overfed.

Dude, what is the dosages you feed them, that is ALOT of nutrients to be using on small plants like that man.

Small plants only need a 3 part and one additive if you want to, but you still have to cut back on the 3 part to make room for the additives if you want to not over do it......

"Chem" nutes, with higher numbers, will burn quicker and harder than organic nutes with low NPK #s.

I'd also stop with the guano, if it is high N guano. If it is high P, then definitely stop it until bloom.

Your humidity is up there too. Those plants look overwatered, but I don't think they are. I think they are having difficulty with transpiration, from probably the high RH and the overnutes.

What's the deal with your ventilation? Intake and exhaust fans? If so, remove that intake fan, it cannot provide the airflow that the larger exhaust fan requires, and just impedes the whole system. Intakes should be passive and oversized (larger than output)....active intakes and exhaust rarely work efficiently unless properly designed by professionals.

MYNAMESTITCH: I have only used superthrive once 2ml per gal.
PETE: Reversed the exhaust system and removed intake blower. Now passive with active Exhaust.

RH is now 50% - 52% Looking better and a bit lighter after flush.

Tri Flex 3 part
Base 2-0-3 5ml per Gal
Grow 2-1-4 10ml per gal
Bloom 1-4-2

Anyone know a better ratio??????????????????

For plants that size once is all it takes. Would ONLY use it after a transplant and 1 drop per gallon of water is all that is needed. Would never use them on plants that small either, I would wait till they are at least 12 in tall before using it.

But I would use a lot less nutrients, those plants are small man they don't need that much. Use 5ml per gallon of the grow for now, is the base got micronutrients in it? WHat all does the base have?

Stitch: the base has the following.................
2-0-3 NPK
Mg 1%
Sulfur 1%
Boron 0.02%
Iron 0.3%
Mn 0.05%
Molybdenum .0005%
Humic Acid from leonardite shale 7%
Seaweed

The Grow has......
2-1-4 NPK
Calcium 2%
Mg 0.5%
Humic Acid 7%

Does this need to have any thing extra added to it? I do like to use the Liquid Karma with this set of nutes..................
Also i have Fox Farm
Grow Big
Big Bloom and
Tiger Bloom

Would these nutrients provide a better overall???? ANYONE???????????

Grow big If I remember right has some micronutrients in them, but I would only use one grow fert and one additive......

What brand of nutrient did this come from?
2-0-3 NPK
Mg 1%
Sulfur 1%
Boron 0.02%
Iron 0.3%
Mn 0.05%
Molybdenum .0005%
Humic Acid from leonardite shale 7%
Seaweed

Can you post recent pics, and make sure the HPS light is off when you take them so we can see the color of the plants?

Ok here is my updated pics... this is 4 days after my flush

My question is How come the plants are not growing upwards? They seems to have stalled out! They are just over 4 weeks old and only 8" tall! 400watt EYE Hortilux SUPER HPS at about 16 inches from tops. I have never seen such a stall out in my entire life! Im concerned that i will not get them any bigger before they go into flower. I know they eye bulb helps keep them a lil more compact, but if you look at the stems all the bud sites are small and really close together at base.

The coco medium is moist, The temp is never higher than 78 and never lower than 71. Humidity is around 51% Those are 2 gal pots and they are not rootbound

Ya, man that is way too much nutrients for those plants, I would back off a little bit......
Even the one dose of superthrive for plants that size was not a smart move either.

I could not find in the thread how often you are feeding them this dosage?

Pick one grow fert you want to use and one micronutrient for now just until they get older, that is all you need for now.
