Nutradip tri meters suck and so does FHD EUROPE

First off the issue i am having with this meter has been going on for months & i think FHD EUROPE want me to
forget all about i bought this meter and take it as a loss
because peter at FHD EUROPE has promised over months to
replace the meter but guess what he didnt get back to me
when i phone them he is in meetings & when i did get a hold of him on the phone he says he has never spoken to me and
said he would sort this out by replacing the meter & for all the hassle i have had he would throw in somthing for my troubles well i was told to send the meter back to my hydro shop which i did and i contacted peter at FHD EUROPE and he said soon as i get the meter from the hydro shop i will forward on a BRAND NEW METER..well after a week the hydro shop sent the same meter but with a new ph & ec probes..now if the FHD EUROPE & THE HYDRO SHOP would listen to the customers the would have heard me saying
the meter calibrates perfect but after a few hours the meter
gives out false reading..so i said it must be the meter as i treat the meter with care and calibrate it often every week
so i say its a faulty curcit board...anyway here is the pics of it calibrating which it does perfect its in my hall so no rf interferance....FHD EUROPE SUCK AT CUSTOMER SUPPORT
PETER M8 I HOPE KARMA COMES BACK ON YOU FOR PISSING ME ABOUT....OH i forgot when i got peter again he said sorry m8 we will get this sorted i will email where you can send your meter & we will replace it..am still waiting for that email...BUYER BEWARE THESE PEOPLE WILL RIP YOU OFF...
WHERES BLUELABS NUMBER...pissed off customer Dank

As you can see from the pics ph4 is calibrated

ph7 is calibrated

ec is calibrated

pic of jug is my tap water which is showing ph6.6 after 15mins which is wrong

and said peter was in the warehouse and put me through he was in a meeting and he hasnt phoned me back at all..FHD EUROPE
YOU RIP UK CUSTOMERS OFF

Something a lot of people overlook is that that unit has a pH accuracy of 0.2

I know yours is even more off than that, but I'm just saying that a lot of the cheaper, and apparently some more expensive ones pretty much "trick" people with high resolution when all that is is how many decimal places the meter will show, NOT the accuracy which is how close to actual the meter can read.

Say you have a meter with a .01 resolution. Most people would THINK it's a really accurate meter because it reads to the .01 ph, right? If you look closer, a LOT of the cheaper meters boast a resolution of .01 or .1, but actually have an accuracy of .2, making that nice high resolution effectively pointless.

Example, your meter has .01 resolution, but .2 accuracy. You put the meter in 4.01 solution, and it reads 4.01. So you think "wow it knows the pH right down to the .01!" when in fact, due to the .2 accuracy spec, the solution could actually be 4.21, or 3.81, or anything in between!

Now, if you have a meter with .1 resolution, that might look less accurate than your .01 resolution meter above, but lets say it has .1 accuracy spec also...so you put it into the 4.01 solution and it reads 4.0 Great, but the other meter still seems more accurate, difference being THIS meter is actually telling you the solution could be between 3.91 and 4.11, twice as accurate as the first meter.

The meters I use are .01 resolution and ALSO .01 accuracy. The Milwaukee pH56 meter is a great .01 accuracy meter that has never let me down, and also the Extech pH104 with the same accuracy is doing well for me.

Sorry if most of you already knew all that stuff...but I feel like a lot of growers are taken advantage of by shady marketing and descriptions of pH meters.

Also, I haven't seen a tri-meter yet for under $500 that has better than .2 accuracy, so I stay away from them.

I know we don't need super accurate pH meters, since at least for hydro we have around .8pH of "buffer space" from 5.5 to 6.3, but still, if you have a .2 accuracy meter and are hovering about 5.5, your solution could actually be at 5.3 and you wouldn't know....so I like to stick with at LEAST a .1 accuracy.

i have noticed they show distorted values when the HPS lights are on and normal values when lights are off....

they are indeed a dodgy product. Cheap chinese product for pools and aquariums.... can be used for hydroponics but not really the greatest...

also they dont tell you you cant use them in the same room
as a digital ballast because of interferance..also it cant be on
the same curcit as the room as it gives out wonky readings
they only tell you this if you buy one and have problems
with it Thanx Hydrolized for the post and info,,i am in the uk
and i hear that bluelab coombo meters are good..i should
have went to consumer rights as this meter was faulty

NUTRADIP TRI METERS SUCK BALLS!!!
Dankuser don't feel to bad. I got f****d on 2 of those cheap pieces of sh**. Sure I probably deserve it for being dumb enough to buy a second one. That nutradip is made so cheap and poorly designed. The probe/power connections are all made on the side and the weight of the probes eventually breaks it. Why are the probes different lengths? One probe was short enough that it didn't reach the bottom of the rez.

They may not work in your garden, but they don't work anywhere else. I ran mine on their own circuit in a separate room far away from any electronic devices. Neither of them lasted 6 months.

The guy at the hydro store tells me to bring the thing in because it's got a 1 year warranty and of course it'll be replaced. when I bring it into the store the guy tells me that the number 1 cause of failure is "not being used". He says nutradip is going to say that is why it failed. I respond "what I'm supposed to keep using it for months after it stops working." I had kept it in storage solution. that was at least 6 months ago I sent that one in and I've never heard back on it.

I got a milwaukee 805 or 801 or something. I just love it. All the sensors are combined into 1 probe and it runs off of a battery. you can read Ph, p p m AND e c. compared to the nutradip this one looks like it's meant to go camping. it's built very rugged and the cable for the probe locks in to place on the main unit. It cost like $100 less than the nutradip.

A friend of mine was burnt on one of these units.

He took it back to the hydro shop and they happily sent it back under the 1yr warranty period. Unfortunately a few weeks later Nutradip denies the warranty because they said the circuit board had gotten wet...never seen the meter again.

The shop eventually made it right with my bud, but I cannot say the same for the company behind this meter.

I cannot say for certain that my friend didnt drop it in a reservoir, but he swears he did not get the "head" unit wet. I have no reason not to believe my friend..

OP, it'd take it up with where you purchased it. If the manufacturer isnt helping resolve the issue then you can only warn others and proceed down the line. The shop who sold you the product that they profited from should make it right. Somebody needs to be held accountable for this crap on the market. If neither resolve the issue then make it a point to warn others of both...and discontinue doing any future business with them.

Bluelab combo meters have a pH/EC of 0.1 accuracy/resolution. Love my unit never had any issues ..

jeeze, all these bad experiences with the trimeter.

I bought a used one 4 years ago that had a faulty probe so i bought a new probe and since then ive got the boards wet prolly 3 times and it stopped working for a few days but today it still calibrates fine and only needs to be re calibrated once before each flower cycle.

Absolutely right about them not liking digital ballasts though, the EC goes all over the place.

Thats my experience also.

Bought mine a decade ago.

I'm on my second ph probe, but this thing is always working and needs little calibration to stay on point. :2cents:

I do not agree.

There is a difference between a tri-meter, a knock off nutradip tri-meter, and a genuine Nutradip Tri-Meter.

CW and a number of other Chinese firms now produce their own "tri-meters". They look exactly like the Nutradip, but tend to be $100-150 less in price. Nearly all of these units have less calibration points for pH and TDS are are shoddily made instruments. The CW unit is a little better in quality, though it is not as accurate as a Nutradip.

Going a step further, some of the knock-off tri-meters have been fraudulently branded as a Nutradip Tri-Meter even though they are not. These are counterfeit devices. The best way to detect it is by the price and the color of the blue plastic that is being used. The knock-offs tend to be a different shade of blue.

Lastly, there is the real deal, the Nutradip Tri-Meter. It's a reliable and very useful piece of hydroponic gear. While there are a lot of people complaining in this thread about the device, I don't share that view. It think it is a robust and reliable instrument.

I conclude that the vast majority of bad buzz in this thread stems from problems with knock-off, or counterfeit tri-meters, and not the real article.

Looool fat im sure we all know if we have a real deal or a Chinese knock off even if they both say tried Meyer.
..

My nutradip tri meter is all over the place

I have had my Nutradip Tri-meter since 2004. Replaced it recently with a Blulab mutimeter(ph/ppm), because I felt the need for something that did not plug into the wall. In the endthe Nutradip wins hands down because...the damn thing does not turn off automatically when I'm mixing ferts....It shows temp/ppm/ ph all at the same time...did I mention it doesn't need batteries....holds calibration for a damn long time.

Growboss has coverage if yours get stolen

Growboss has coverage if yours get stolen

If you buy a growboss, you can claim it stolen and get another one for half price! :woohoo: I know i'm late to this but saw it when I was looking up growboss. they are now made in canada and they have a crazy warranty that includes 2 year accidental damage and if you garden got popped and the meter is seized or stolen. Theres a charge for stuff that is my fault but its way less than having to buy another one. This sounds better than anything else I could find. Anyone else?:
