Ok, so here's the rundown.

What STRAIN are you growing?
707 headband

What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?)
clones

What is the age of your plants?
about 3 weeks

What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
veg

What Technique are you using?
Drain to waste. Hand watering.

What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)
botanicare compressed coco

What Nutrient's are you using?
the complete line of house and garden w/coco AB. I've also been using magical at 5ml/gal, and rhizotonic as a foliar spray.

What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using?
I don't have a meter yet, but I've been using the nutes as directed. The magical and the

What is the pH of the "Tank"?
5.7-6.0 for the res and 8.0-8.6 for foliar spray

Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equipment?
It's a cheapo milwalkie pH pen, but I calibrate it regularly, so it should be pretty close.

When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional)
been changing out the res weekly.

What size bulb are you using?
400watt metal halide

What is the distance to the canopy?
been keeping it at least 20"

What is your RH Factor?
RH was initially low, around 40%. I've since added a humidifier, and have been keeping it at 50-70%.

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range)
Day: 78-82F
Night: 71-74F

This is my second round at hydro. Didn't do so well on the first to put things lightly.:wallbash:

The close up pic is from a few days ago. I've since read through some of the threads on coco, and have been keeping the medium more moist and allowing for more runoff. I've also been spraying with rhizotonic about three times a day, and I didn't add any magical this time around. Should I have even been using magical with the coco AB. This was something dude at the store recommended.

Things seem to have greened up quite a bit since the first shot, but I still haven't been able to get that really lush green color that I've been able to get with soil. Also, my pH is always rising. Would I be better off using aqua flakes as apposed to coco AB? I have both. I'd like to be able water without having to mess with pH every time.

Thx for your time.:joint:

Ya looks like that coco is too dry to me. Coco needs to be watered every day.
You may have already fixed your problem. Most coco needs to be rinsed did you rinse yours? Don't know anything about the nutes you are using. You sure those have been rooted for 3 weeks they don't look that old... You should invest in a bluelab truncheon when you get some extra

yeah coco looks too dry, this fucks up the PH and leads to all kind of nute burns etc.

keep you coco humid, water regularly, and FLUSH a lot.

stop foliar feeding also. when leaf's are damaged it doesnt do any good at all.

you might consider to give them a misting or two with clean water to start with, and a good low EC flush/excesive watering.

remember when foliar feeding using diminute amounts of products is the way to go.

peace and good luck!

Thx for the replies.

No, I didn't rinse the medium first. This wasn't something they had mentioned at the store. Could this be what's causing the discoloration? I came across a thread that said something about initially adding magical or calmag in with the coco. Is this something I should be doing along with the rinse?

Been about 3 weeks since I took the cuttings. About 2 since they were transplanted.

Gonna give the foliar feeding a rest and see if that helps. I've been advised to stop using all the additives and just stick with the AB for now. Does anyone else think this could be causing me problems?

I'll try giving them a water mist and flush. Should I be using drip clean with the flush?

bilbobonger, I think the idea is to reduce the number of possible things that could go wrong. Plants don't "need" anything more than base nutes. Additives are extras, and technically unnecessary--though many use them, including myself.

The important thing now is to get your watering amounts and times and your nute strength dialed in. Once that happens you can play with additives. Just my reading of our colleagues' advice.
