Yp you went from 600 to 900 too fast. What you described is a typical nute burn. Sativas are more sensitive to nutes than indicas. Flush the container with pure water ( 2x amount of the container).
Sorry to hear about your son.

No need to be scared of offending anyone, this is a site full of happy stoners. Especially if you are asking a question about growing, no one is gonna get pissed off if you need a little help, that is what this site is for.

That being said....

Yes, it does sound like nute burn, if you can post some pics that could really help.
I agree with Peksman you went from 600 to 900 way too fast.

It sounds like you are feeding them once a week which is probably too much.

How old are they, have they started to flower?

What kind of nutes are you using?

Did the new (top) leaves start to turn yellow and brown first?

It sounds to me like too much nitrogen, if that is the case you will need to flush them out with plain water. Before you do that make sure the waters PH is as close to 7.0 as possible, if it is tap you will need to set it out for about a day.

I really hope they pull through, and I'm very sorry about your loss.

they are about 7 weeks old and about three feet tall. im using floranova grow along with mexican bat guano witch i use bout every 4 weeks. i havent flowered yet as im trying to get them to veg well first. i just killed the first nine clones that i grew into five foot plants and started to flower with floros. i gotta addmit, ive been smokin them and theyre pretty good seeing how i only flowered them for three weeks. ity bity starter buds ya know!! i now have a hps lite 600 watts and am setting up a seperate flowering room.i have seven clones that are about three weeks old and am hoping to flower them if the ones i burned dont make it. i feed them everyother watering. what am i doing wrong here? how much should i increase nutes at any one time and how often should i increase them? im usung spring water that has a ppm of 325 then i add my nutes. i keep ph at 6.5 i ussually have to move my lights up every day. i keep them about 2 inches from the top of plants. and thanks for the kind words everybody! this is the one thing my son was PASSIONATE about! i just hope i can keep it going for him. and no the new leaves are not burned.
