Not Sure Which Fans to Buy for 48x48x78 tent

Ok, I'm not really wanting to spend more than 250-300ish on fans/ventilation. I don't think I'll have to spend that much even, but I'm really not sure what I'm looking for. We're moving and won't be able to have a balcony or full room devoted to our plants anymore...so yeah...please help! Thankies :smoke:

Edit:

I'm high, I forgot to mention that I'm using a 432W T5 light setup....plus about 100w in side vertical t5 strips....They don't really produce that much heat...but I figured I should mention...

I buy all my fans from xoxide.com the rest I salvage from old comps, all 12v. Converters I get from thrift stores. DC with DC ONLY (AC 12v fans not common) equal or less wattage for the converter to fan.

Use CFL's in cab now. Planing and buying stage of 600w hps grow now. 12v fans will do all my air work (and I'm a air-flow centric).

Check gallery. Peace out and air up.

A 4" or 6" inline centrifugal fan is all you should need for exchanging air and removing smell. I'd personally go with a 6" + speed controller, just in case you'll need more fan power later, since a 6" isn't really much more than a 4". It also makes ductwork a little easier if you choose to go with air-cooled lighting in the future, as 6" is pretty standard. That should easily run you less than $200.

And a few small clip-on oscillating fans. I've found I don't like single larger ones in a 4x4 hut type deal, too easy to get wind burn and lose too much canopy space trying to fit the fan in. Last time I had a 16" fan and made it work by zip-tying the pole to one of the corner legs of my E/F stand.

I wouldnt reccomend using PC fans for a 600w HPS system. HTG supply sells inline fans WITH carbon can filters for really cheap. Id check them out. Both of those items will cost you under $170

CFM isn't CFM in a grow environment. A 600cfm fan of one type might be completely useless and may move little to no air in one situation, while a 200cfm fan of another type might be much more powerful and useful in that exact same situation.

That was the point of myself and VaporBros. PC fans aka Axials aren't fit for higher wattages. Zombi3gril should be looking for inlines or mixed vents like the S&P Great Inline Fans (S&P)

I'm using an S&P TD-150 at the high speed setting (300cfm) to vent my Sunhut 4x4x7 & it's working out perfectly - runnin' a 600W hps + 4x4 T-5 on a 4" carbonaire filter & the temps are only 4 degrees hotter than the outside air.

Kept the fan outside the tent & ran galvanized duct where i could. Stuck on a 36" DIY muffler & it's about as quiet as you can get for a 6" fan.

I Defer To Old Yeller. After further reasearch I decided to go with a stronger in-line (120v) fan for my 600w air-cooled fixture. 12v fans do have there aplicaton but this is not be one of them. Yellers filter/ventilation configuration is the kind.

VaperBros is wise. Good post.

Thanks organick - Also, look into the Sun System hood heat shield/jacket - the one on my SS Supersun 2 really helps in keeping the hood from adding to the ambient temps in my tent & they make 6" ducting heat shield covers too.
