Not sure what is wrong

I have a white widow clone that is rooted. I had her under a 400w metal halide and the top leaf is turning yellow and now the bottom ones. I just transplanted her into new soil, does it look like a nutrient deficiency?

How long has it been rooted and what was the light used to help the rooting process? She's being cooked mate, drop the wattage of the 400 mh may be a little to demanding for this young baby...

yes she is burned i think / can not acces some nutrients because of too many of others.

but i think you have to make more effort at looking after them,

like getting the right amount of soil in the pots... and looking after them a bit better.

also a small plant like that (as above) doesn't need so much light (just cheap fluoro / led is fine).

also they don't need that big a pot, small pot with even moisture for the roots is much, much better.

I shut off the metal halide and used 3 CFL light bulbs each placed 120 degrees around the plant about 2 inches away. I also cut off the dead leaf. The lights are on 18/6 still.

Additionally I placed the plant into a smaller pot about half the size. I noticed the root development is good and is double the size as it was two days ago.

My plan is to use her as a mother plant where I will have many small clones to experiment with and not lose everything if something goes wrong

That is one of the nice things about having a mom. There has been plenty of times when I didn't keep moms and had some bugs or other problems and almost lost beloved strains. Glad to see its popping back up! I usually just veg clones under t5's or like you 400 watts but I keep them up higher away from the canopy than I would well rooted foot tall plants. I like to lower it when I see explosive growth and can tell the plant is really taking off. I forgot to lower them the last round of babies i did and ended up with super lanky little ones lol. Had to top them a couple more times than normal but adjusting got them right back into action. GL

Id keep the top of the clone 8" to 18" away from the light depending the length of the node once they take off.

I also agree a single t-5, t-8 or t-12 would be better, but TEIO

that is good news, hopefully a speedy recovery into dankness.

i only grew "white" (as in black) widow hybrid 1x, but it was v. v. nice.

i like the leaf shape, i think it inherits from the s.india, but not sure.

-------------

does anybody know where i can buy straight s.india ?, that would be nice to try.

-----------

good luck for the future, i would only pot up when the plants are atleast 2x taller then the pots or something, obviously not set in stone.

it is ok for the roots to have circled around the bottom of the pot abit (that is not being bound), it's just if they start strangling themselves, turning brown etc.

also good to make sure all of the compost gets wet, when watering, and then water again when the top is a bit dry (this is why smaller pots better > ALL roots get water, but the compost doesn't stay wet for ages, as need oxygen / can invite pathogens if sat in moisture)

happy growing,

Does this look like the result of PH issue? What about calcium or magnesium, too?

Not mg. it needs to be trans planted. Prob root issue. Way too big for solo cup. Pull it out and look at roots prob getting root bound. And that can cause it to look like lots of deficiencys.

If your not sure how to take it out correctly. I assume you do but if not put your hand over the cup with stem in between fingers. Flipp upside down and gently squeeze the sides till it falls out in your hand.

Yea I know how to transplant it. And yea there is tremendous root development on these guys! Makes sense! The reason I didn't transplant yet was because when I went to buy pots, the guy at the hydro store told me they didn't need to be transported until they were about a foot tall! Ughhh

I'm going to put them into half gallon pots of coco asap. I may also add some perlite.
