I have a 400Watt Hps Soil Grow. Fox Fam Soil. Mixed Seed Strains, all seed. They have all be topped and fans trimmed. 1 Gallon Pots. Half Feminized and half not, I had yet to see much of a preflower, but I am suspicious of a few because of plant structure, any way.

This is what I am running. What I am unsure on is how tall I should be growing my plants with only the 400Watt? Should I add a ground level florescent?
Any Suggestions or thought?

The general rule of thumb is Indicas double in size during flowering and Sativas triple.

The problem here is your plants can't grow very tall because your pots are too small.
If i remember correctly the formula is 1gal per foot of growth in soil.

So If i were you, i would probably flip them right away cause i don't think they're gonna get much bigger than that.

Wow definitely something I didn't know, thank you Conformist. I was going to flip to 3 Gallon after I sexed em. But they are well over a foot. Do you or anyone else, know if flipping 12/12 for a week to see sexual organs would damage the feminized ones?

After hearing the 1ft/gal rule, I need to get them into 3 Gallon pots, but I'm not sure if my tent can handle 25, 3gal pots, without first weeding out any possible males. 14 Regular seeds and 11 Feminized (The Front half of the pic) And they are not ready for flowering.
So I'm thinking I switch to 12/12 for a week to get first signs of flowering. Then go back to 18/6 and transplant females into 3gal.

Does this sound like a bad idea to anyone?

Yea, if you switch them to flower and then switch them back to veg you're gonna have lots of problems. Besides stunting the growth for several weeks you're likely to get some hermies.

If your tent isn't big enough to hold the 25 three gallon pots why not transplant the Feminized into 3 gallons and leave the 14 regulars in the 1 gallon until pre-flowers determine sex. Then dump the males and transplant the girls and continue to veg for 2 more weeks to give the roots time to expand into the fresh soil.
Roots don't grow much when flowering.

Tokar's idea on waiting on the regs is a good strategy. If they are not showing pre-blooms, they are not sexually mature enough to be ready to go 12/12. Good luck. -granger

see, I'm glad I asked thanks guys. I will transplant the fems like you said. and it'll actually work really well because the reg seeds are avout a week older and a decent bit taller this should even it out.
