not sick, per se, but god DAM!!! grew long STICKS!

i think i know where i went wrong again. not purely torture for my plants but more for myself.

THOUGHT i was doing them a favor by having a Metal Halide 400W and just adding in an extra 400W HPS!.. started growing stickes with over an inch between nodes, and then NO leaves other than the fan leaves. i thought it was the new strain i got (and after i switched almost completely over), that just didn't grow leaves! maybe some kind of HEMP plant or something, but it was SUPPOSED to be a medicinal plant i payed up the ASS for, and figured i just got burned. but when my original strain started growing sticks in the same dirt i figured maybe the fertilizer i switched to. i mean STICKS guys and girls, and when put into bud, did absolutely NOTHING but grow little thumb-sized buds and still no leaves on the nodules. this sucks! so my bud who's always telling me to throw away my HPS lights (even in bud, so i know he's nuts) i listen to him as far as the growing is concerned. since this one ballast is switchable, i take out the HPS and insert another MH. well after ONE DAY things looked way better (wishfull thinking?) but after a week, crap, everything in there looks WAY lusher, the node leaves are growing too. much much better.

what do you think? ROOKIE MISTAKE???? anybody else have this experience or knowledge? do not do this!!!! after almost a month in bud my plants had to all be thrown away. ALMOST BUDLESS AND WORTHLESS

I know pics are pretty much where it's at, esp in the infirmary section, that is about the only time i show pics, cause you really need to see something to diagnose it.

but i hesitate to put pics on for no reason. i also pull my pics after the thread runs it's course. i have secrecy issues i guess. after dealing with cookies and going onto this site and having it auto-fill in both my name and my password, i dont want someone to get on my 'puter when i'm not around, like the cops if i get busted, and see what i have been up to. (i have it all fixed now tho). still, i've wiped my photo album i used to have here, as you can see.

but pretty much the plants are just a stem. with a fan leaf at every node, and a couple 1/8" long node leaves that dont ever grow. whadda joke.

Well, like you said pictures are kind of necessary to diagnose certain things. I do understand pulling pictures when no longer needed.

That said, with rudimentary computing skills you should understand how to deal with cookies and autofill features in your web browser. Primarily, delete or do not worry about cookies because they are not at all a threat. Regarding autofill, just turn it off or don't use it...

Still, I would be really interested to see a picture. If the problem is really as severe as you describe it (and I still don't really understand what's going on) I'm going to go ahead and guess that it is not a problem with HPS vs. MH but rather - as computer security issues are also often the result of - human error.

If you really don't want to put up pictures, you could at least fill out the info sheet in the sticky at the top of this forum.

well, lets see ifn its here. holy crap, it is. there is 2 inches btwn nodes and the node leaves dont get any bigger. this is a rope plant. not spozed to be tho. file says movie but its not

looks like a plant that just started flowering and is stretching! look at the size of those little buds, he couldnt of switched the lights any more then 2 weeks ago max

how far above the plant tops is your bulb? maybe it needs to be a little closer or like others have said, its a sativa plant.

to hold down stretch and get tighter nodes, use your MH bulb the first 2 - 3 weeks of flower then switch over to hps to finish them out. it works well for me.
