Something I wondered about, as I am not an internet Whiz-Kid.

My Internet Service Provider (ISP) is a small, local company.
I am aquainted with both the young owner and his father...and they with me..
They have their own antennas and the service is a wireless signal to the tiny antenna at my house. They probably have less than 1000 customers...
My question: IF by some chance this man wanted to know, is he able to see which websites I visit? Is he able to see that I visit IC Mag? And can he see my sign in name (Bud Green) and can he see text and pictures I upload and download?
Just wondering...Please, no guesses, if you reply. I would like to know the answers from someone who is pretty sure one way or the other.. Thanks...

if you are not using a proxy or vpn:
1. your isp has visibility of all the web traffic metadata coming from and going to your assigned ip address. your logon to icmag is secured via ssl (that little lock in your browser address bar.)
2. icmag mods/admin have visibility of your ip address, logon and some cookies.

Thanks, soooo, what I understand from your reply is that the man I know, if he wanted to look, could tell I was opening the IC Mag page, BUT could NOT tell that I was signing in as Bud Green Sr.?
Also could he see pictures I am uploading to be posted in my comments?
One last question: If he was looking, would he have to do it at the same time I was on this website, or would he have a record he could look back at, sometime later?

correct

all of your electronic transmissions to icmag are encrypted via ssl so your isp would only see encrypted data.

It depends on the setup, but for sure it's possible for him to store logs, and look back on them later.
