Not budding at all??

Hi all,

I have a very healthy G13 X Hashplant growing in my Homebox tent (she's the big monster in front of the others with the thick stalk), and although it's huge and has been on 12/12 for a month now, there is not a single hair to be seen on it anywhere.
All of ther other plants that were placed in the tent at the same time but are of different strains, have buds and are doing nicely. But this one plant simply refuses to bud. Typical chick.

There are no notable problems with nutes or light leaks or temp/humidity, so I can come up with absolutely no explanation why it hasn't at least shown an attempt to bud. Any suggestions?

Yeah...pretty freaky, huh? I've never had that happen before, or even heard of it. So I'm at a total loss. Thanks for replying though...maybe someone will know.I hate to just chop her down with the rest when they are all ready to go, she's so healthy and all.

TOO damned healthy if you ask me! She has dominated the interior if the tent since the second week, but refuses to give it up, ya know?

i remember hearing g13 was a royal pain in the ass for flowering... uhhh. but i dunno....

i'd look for caterpillars or leaf miners.. if thats not it.. than i really have no clue.. though the plant looks real healthy...

Well...I saw these seeds called "Sex" not long ago somewhere on the 'Net. I just can't recall wheere. They were expensive and hard to find according to whatever it was I read. But the desicription of the high made me wanna try it! So, I naturally want some. *grin*
Other than what I have just written, I know nothing of them.

That's a very interesting question, actually. I have always given half of my crops (since I started growing) to a man I met in town who is ill. He could never have been able to afford to buy the meds for himself, as he has a young family and never has enough to be able to relax and enjoy life a little.
So I simply give him half of each crop I grow and he is able to live a fairly normal life with his severe medical issues.

I realize that a lot of you may have spit your coffee all over your computer monitor when you read that I give half of my crop away to a friend. I mean, if you look at it from a monetary standpoint it seems daft to just give away a £1000 worth of Cannabis. But I have never quite been able to associate Cannabis with money. They are separate things in my head.
So it doesn't occur to me that I am handing over something with a very high monetary value. Besides...any of you would do—if you aren’t all ready-- the exact same thing. I love being a part of something where generosity and compassion are the order of the day. If I could, I would grow acres of Cannabis and simply give away everything that came from my efforts.

I got a bit off track there (my early morning “first o’ the day” medicinal smoke makes me talkative…sorry about that), but told you all of that so you'd understand how he ended up with the sister to my G13 X Hashplant.

I finally got my friend confident enough to try and grow his own meds so he could feel better about himself and not feel like a leech for always smoking my medicine. I set him up with a couple of new 45 litre NFT systems, a 600w HPS lamp and ballast, all new electronic hydroponics testing gear, all the nutes and additives he needs, etc.
Once I had his loft all set up and ready to go, I germinated a smorgasbord of really nice strains, keeping half for myself and giving the other half of the healthy, ready-to-veg plants to my friend.

Which all brings me to the point of this post. The G13 X Hashplant plant I am growing looks and acts nothing like the identical twin I gave him. It was germed at the same time, planted at the same time, and has had the exact same nutes and a very similar environment from the very start. Yet his G13 is full of buds and is only half the size of mine. So that does leave one to think that there is an impostor involved here. It looks purely Sativa with its razor-thin leaves and stretchy performance.

So…any help at all would be truly appreciated. I hope I don’t have to kill it off after it has started to bud after all the other plants have been harvested and are drying happily in my drying room. If I let it go until it’s actually ready to harvest I would be losing valuable time growing my next crop, as that one plant would tie up an entire 1.2 meter grow tent. I would be forced to cut her down, even though she hasn’t got a mature bud on her. That would be a depressing situation, to be sure.

Dave, you need to use a HPS for flowering. The MH is great for the veg stage but the High Pressure Sodium gives you the proper light spectrums for flowering. A Metal Halide can be used in conguction with the HPS to give your plants the best of both worlds. Looks like a lot of blueish light there. Check out the pic below and you will see the orange looking glow from my 600watt HPS.

I had exactly the same problem, She grew and grew and grew, and then grew some more and finally decided to grace me with buds.
Then the buds took like MONTHS to mature,
Not only did the buds take months to mature, she started ripening from the bottom first and then when the bottom were almost ready then the top branches went into flower.
She stretched and stretched.
I had to harvested her in stages- first the bottom branches then the top.

All in all I think that from seed to harvest was over 8 months. and then I got irritated with the whole bush one day and just cut her down. I had 2 plants this season, and both of them were the same.
Last year I grew 1 plant and pollinated that, the resulting strain from the polination is FANTASTIC!!!

Then came my curing problem, the buds would NOT DRY!!!
I had a fan on her, then I switched the fan off, cut the buds off the branches and spread them out, then I bottled them, then i put them into brown paper, then I spread them out again, then back into paper bags.
they just would not dry!!! Seriously, I have my remainder buds in a plastic ziplock bag, and I must check if its dry. I suspect that still not,


the smoke itself, once it starts to burn is good, - mild but very happy uplifting and very creeper like.
The ice hash is fantastic. and I got alot form it,

Eventually I decided to just chop down the whole bush- Even before the top buds were ready and plant something else in its place. Because it was just too big, too long in maturing and taking up too much space.
I would reccomend to take her out your grow space and start with something else,

I have always used MH's.
I started using an HPS and the only difference I noted was whispyer buds.
Not to say they weren't compact but same plant under a Metal Halide created ROCK hard buds.
Dave try swtching that sucker to 10on-14off, see if you get a response.

Well...I have other plants in the same tent so the change in light times would have an adverse effect on those. I don't think that is an option...yet.
I will cut her down if she hasn't shown some sort of improvement in the next couple of weeks. There is just no point in wasting time, nutes and valuable grow space on a plant that thinks she's a fucking Hemp weed. I really hate to lose the yield that this big bitch would have given me, though. Bummer...

could it be like trainwreck?? from seed TW take any where from 6-9 months to mature to even start to flower.. i cannt remember what they call it.. it will only start to throw off buds when it matures .. i talked to Dr Jay about it along time ago.. i would take some clones off of her and see how long until teh mother starts to flower.. then take teh clones and see if they flower faster...

The hps flower only mantra has been said so many times it put a funky stigma on mh. MH lights work just fine in flower and provide substantially more UVb light to the plant which has been experimented with alot in the realm of increased THC production. The MH is definately not the issue here especially when theres 1000 watts of it.

My question is what else is in there that makes that room look so sparse in regards to leaves? Is it all sativa plants? Where did all the fan leaves go to?

hey there mojave dave, I awlways use a 60x scope to see how my plants are progressing. Is the plant frosting up any ? If needed , do you have some bubble bags? good luck
