Northern California Outdoor Harvest 2011 w/MACROS

It's harvest time.:plant grow:
I have a small backyard medical garden in Northern California. We started our garden in May when we put out six clones. Three of them were runts, an AK47, Casey Jones and a Blue Cheese. The other three are Purple Diesel, LA Confidential and OG Kush. We planted four more clones in early July to make up for the three runts. Those are two more AK47s, a Sour Diesel and a local strain named Grand Purple Queen. We also planted four more clones in early August just to see what they would do. They are Blueberry Kush, White Rhino and two Chocolopes.
I'll be updating the thread over the next few weeks with harvest pics.
We started our harvest a few weeks ago with our AK47s. They were all small plants. We got about three pounds of buds from them that are curing in jars now.

Next up, Purple Diesel :jump:

Purple Diesel

Purple Diesel

Our Purple Diesel is almost ready for jars. We broke down what was hanging and put it in the drying bags yesterday. The PD is one of the prettiest flowers I've ever grown.

Purple Diesel now in jars

Purple Diesel now in jars

The Purple Diesel is now in curing jars. I partially filled six, one gallon jars so that's about 2.5 pounds. We left the popcorn buds on the plant to fatten them up.
It lost a lot of color during the drying. I guess that's normal for purples?

. My intent was to post the LA Confidential next but I wasn't able to because it's been non stop trimming. We've taken down the majority of the crop. Much of it is in jars curing.
We've been trimming on the OG for three days now. I've been eye-balling the weight we've trimmed from the OG so far and it's easily three pounds, probably more than four pounds. Plus, there's at least a pound left to trim

. I'm almost positive it's final weight will be 5+ pounds. I think this is my third or fourth 5+ pounder

.

This is a nug of the OG Kush that we harvested a while back. It was getting top heavy, and then the rains came, so we wanted to open it up. We took down more than a pound of tops at the time.

The buds were getting so heavy on the OG that it was looking like a Weeping Willow.

We've already taken probably more than four pounds off the plant and here's what's still left on the plant. We'll be taking that off tomorrow.

Different angle. I think it's a pound or more left to harvest. Most of those tops on there are like egg size or bigger.
OGlastbit003-1.jpg

Here's about a three pound pile of AK47. All 3 of the AKs were smaller plants. The popcorn buds we left on the plant have gotten huge. We may be able to pull another eight ounces or so off them.
AK47-1.jpg

We also took down 3 of the plants we planted in early August. We planted them as small clones and got a little more than an ounce off each plant. Now we're thinking about doing twenty or so next season just for variety. lol, Probably not but fun to think about. $3.64 for a bag of Kellog Patio Plus + $12 for a clone = an oz of killer bud. Not bad.
Here is the Chocolope. There were 2 of those and a White Rhino. We mixed the sugar leaf. I'm going to call the keif from the sugar leaf White Chocolope

The Grand Queen Purple was one we planted in early July. It looks like final weight will be about a pound and a quarter.

Good solid nugs and nice purple tint on the GQP

I love the look of the LA Confidential. It smokes great and is very potent. I can't wait till it's completely cured.

The LA Con is solid and sticky.
LA9-1.jpg

Final yield will be more than 3 Pounds. These are one gallon curing jars. I put about 7 ounces in them for curing.
LAharvest005-1.jpg

This last pic is a popcorn bud that we left growing on the Purple Diesel. They didn't put on much size compared with the AK47 popcorns. I'm going to use the PD popcorns for a keif experiment. We're going to freeze half before drying and then do a keif run on them to see what works better, dry veg or wet veg.

Well, I'm going back to my beer and OG buzz. The Raiders won!!! Both my teams won today

. Hope you all enjoyed the pics.

I
ve noticed a lot of strains turn purple when it gets colder. I wonder if it has to be a purple strain to do this?
