Northern (43°N and up?) Growing

I am looking to move in the next year or two, and I prefer cooler climates generally speaking. I don't fuck with the killer heat in the deep south during the summer. I prefer a mild climate.

I was thinking about perhaps Oregon or Maine (especially because they have pretty good laws, and plenty of outdoors activity for me to partake in. Sorry, Colorado, but you're fracked up).

Anywho, I've never grown THAT far north. How is the game different up there (and in places like Canada and northern Europe)?

Obviously we have to stick to early strains, but late September strains are the name of my game anyway, so that doesn't bother me. How do expectations change? Is it absurd to shoot for an lb per plant at 45°N? Is mold worse? Is bud less potent because of weaker sun (I assume yes, but noticeably so?)? Do plants grow much slower?

On the bright side, even though our strain selection is limited and the season short, I feel like there are a lot less helicopters the further north you go.

Hello
Pound a plant -yes.
mold- depends on micro climate not latitude. higher humidity and rainfall by the oceans.
do plants grow slower- no I do not think so. What we may lack in sun intensity is made up in hrs of light per day.
less helicopters the further north you go- I would say yes
bud less potent- noooo
laws in Canada are F@#ked
Peace GG

Not much help as I'm only halfway through my first grow, but from reading here there are many guys up north getting WELL over 1 pound per. 5+ is doable from what I've read, just have to give them the soil. 1 per was my goal going in this year, and I think I should hit that, even with little prep, a late start, and no experience.
