humboldt growers association

http://www.humboldtgrowers.org/

there's also a new one called emerald growers association but i don't know if they have a site yet. not unions but similar idea?

according to ganjaD the HGA was actaully supporting LIMITS on most peoples grows, reducing every grow outside of the special HGA to only 1200 watts indoor flower and 100 sq ft of canopy..

i will not support any attempts by a select few to monopolize this plant....

you dont see bullshit like this in the agricultural industry, only in pot because its so lucrative.

HGA support or not last month humboldt county changed their indoor from 100 sq ft per card with no light limit- to- 50 sq ft per RESIDENCE with 1200 watts max no matter how may cards.
In my opioion
this was done because humboldt was getting ready to adopt an outdoor program similar to mendos zip tie 99 plant od program- until northstone organics got squashed by feds, northstone was following mendos program to the letter with sheriffs inspections etc.
this is what happens when you fuck with the feds, they take freedom fighters and make examples outta them, eddy lepp, marc emery, tommy chong- etc. they don't like to look stupid or weak and they have the power to fucking destroy you.
all these hundreds of clubs making millions of dollars and getting all this national press will only be allowed until the feds have a reason to squash it. it got too big (GREED) and now the feds have to put an end to it.

California's or the US Constitution? If the US Constitution, I don't think we'll readily find it. But! We also have the Bill of Rights as well as the Declaration of Independence as legal documents upon which to fall.

Life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Howzat?

California's Constitution guarantees equality, that could be applicable, in a roundabout way.

Should I even ask what got Bluenote banned? I'm hoping it hasn't to do with this thread.

As for the other points made here, if I may I'd like to share my thoughts. The organization that I'm thinking of when discussing this would absolutely necessarily be an NGO (non-governmental organization). As such, it would have and adhere to its own bylaws and standards, and those would be set up by the union/organization itself in the first place.

Structure: organic is great, but it's just not happening. Where are we, as a group, now, after passage of 215? Not exactly well organized OR well represented, that's where. Worse, we're experiencing a HUGE backlash of local municipalities (cities & counties) that are going against the rights and guarantees granted patients in 215 and what remains of SB420 and some are outlawing cultivation altogether. Others are still actively pursuing those who participate in storefront/collective/cooperative/dispensary models and treating their distribution of medicine as a criminal enterprise. I have very recent articles that support everything I'm saying, if folks are interested.

So, how do we fight against this political backlash if we rely on an organically comprised movement? Answer is, we don't, because we can't, and we can't because we do not sound off as a single unified force. And THAT is the real crux of the biscuit and was my point earlier made. We have to compromise, and if we don't regulate ourselves (and we're not) then others will regulate for us (and they are by making it impossible to even grow for yourself, let alone easily find a dispensary that's within a reasonable distance from home).

You all can naysay all you like, but these are the facts. And the fact is that if we leave our regulation in the hands of others, we will not like what we get.
But, we will deserve it.

From what I have seen in my sort-of-local paper, which comes out of a prime outdoor growing habitat, is that a huge portion of the backlash has been caused by the reaction of the general populace to the in-your-face approach adopted by numerous growers. Having been newly protected by the law has resulted in many growers taking the attitude that they can now do what they want with impunity, without any consideration for their neighbors. 215 & 420 came out of a sympathetic response by the majority of voters, and many have come to regret it. There are nearby mountain communities that have been invaded by carpetbaggers from the cities, illegally clear-cutting parcels for better sun and in some cases even dropping timber on neighboring land to provide better exposure. Nobody wants to live near thug central with a bunch of abused pit bulls running around.

Unless we can figure out some way to self-police this type of activity, we stand a very good chance of alienating the voting majority to the point that mmj is repealed. I know that lot's of us on here have been doing this long enough that it is reflexive to keep a low profile, but that philosophy isn't pervasive throughout the growing community. Unfortunately, it is the true medical growers that stand to lose the most - people with both limited budgets and mobility, and no option but to grow in their immediate surroundings. The large commercial people will simply move elsewhere.

BINGO! You are 100% correct. And in the case of my county's efforts, the commercial (whether indoor or outdoor) growers don't/won't really even need to move anywhere.
