The two main types are peat based and bark based.

I have had good success with peat based soils but the bark may be a more ecological option?

Then another difference is how heavily prefertilized it is. For seedlings you want lightly fertilized soils for big plants hotter stuff.

Thanks boss !
Yes Pete base looking at the promix microrhizae , I’ve heard it drains fast, good idea NOT to add perlite ???

Thanks guys

It drains well because it already has perlite in it. You don't need to add more.
Thanks, should I invest in soil ph pen ?? Picked up a blue lab pulse used for 150$ the other day it’s literally new dude used it a few months, just missing my RO system and ready to go.

Going to wait for some maintenance to get done first than the ship sets sail…

Yes pH is necessary, or at least extremely useful. If you don't want to invest in a pen you can just get the tester strip at the very least.

I like the Fox Farm dirt and nutrients (Grow Big for veg, Tiger Bloom for flower) cheapo local brand CalMag, and Protekt (silica). I use them as little as possible. Start with 1/4 of what is recommended on bottle, and work your way up, no matter the brand, especially if you have smaller plants. Shouldn't need anything more than that in soil, and ideally, even less than that. Too many products is the death of plants.
