Noob trying to figure heat exhaustion

Im building a 3'l x 3'w x 6'h cab using a 400w hps, and I was wondering if I just attach the necessary piping to the sides of my lamp and have it run out the roof, would it be enough to keep it at a reasonable temp. for harvest? I was also thinking of attaching a vertical corner fan on the ceiling, as well as a 2'3' tall standup fan to provide air flow between plant and lamp. Would this be sufficient enough to function? Also, is 9sq ft enough space for 6 plants? One more q, whats the best locale for a carbon filter? I haven't made a solid decision as to the kind of carbon filter yet, so any input is much obliged. I think that's more than enough questions for now. Thanks in advance.

will you be pulling air from the cab for the intake of the lights cooling? or will it bring in cool from outside the cab across the lamp then out the cab... either way it should work but the exhaust of the one that pulls from the cab will need odor control

Youre probably going to want something in-line with the ducting from your light. Just a stand-up fan blowing across the light won't cause the heat to dissipate fast enough up to the roof. It will just redistribute the heat inside. Consider a cheapo fart fan

Ah, I see what you're saying. So the cheap fan should be placed inside the duct, gotcha. I purchased a phat hydro at a good price, and I was going to place it at the top of the box while the exhaust pipe runs out the roof and straight outside. Would the smell still leak out even with the hydro above the lamp? Thanks for the swift response.

yea your goin to need a fan pulling the heat from the lamp up the venting and out the roof. as well as your corner or standing fan blowing air around in the cab. just attaching tubes to the hood of your lamp wont really do anything.
your carbon filter will need to have air pulled or pushed through it, and itll have to be done before the air leaves the cab if you dont want to be stinking the place up hehehe. so you could for example stick it on the venting so it goes like this
filter==hood==fan sucking==venting out roof.
just have alook around at some cab designs and you'll see what you need to do pretty quick. good luck man :joint:
