Where are we as far as researching psychoactive cannabinoids that aren't THC goes?



I know everyone likes to get baked off THC but now that it's going on 2020 and with legalization spreading like wildfire, why is there not more thought being put into other compounds?

I've been searching for those seeds. tetrahydrocannabivarine. cbc from original afghanis possibly. thc breaks down to cbn with degradation. thai, afghani columbia contain thcv in some amounts but like its different from pheno to pheno and availability. Novarine, not much any way testing bud samples. Seems the seeds get bought up before they're made available.

elite seeds said that was a one time release for now and it needs more testing, and i would say it does since no one else is release strains with high contains of them

Novarine is a step in the right direction but it still contains a substantial amount of THC. That's great for most people but there are still plenty who need the medical benefits of cannabis (other compounds) without the THC high. I think that eventually we will see strains of .1% THC with a focus on other cannabinoids. But it looks like we're still a ways away from that now, unfortunately.

Cool, thanks. I've not heard of that strain until now. Grower says that it took them 2 years to find a high thc-v/non-thc specimen but I don't know if they mean they've worked the Syrian line for that long or have just now discovered it.


I've been curious about Doug's Varin since they boast incredible THC-V levels, but that particular strain is now highly commercialized and clearly produced for consumers, not other growers. It also contains a moderate amount of THC, so some breeding work would need to be done.

In the post about the Syrian the guy says he can't wait to dig deeper into the line, being that case maybe this was found in a large seed start? The test posted being his high thcv selection.

I was under the impression that thcv was mainly found in pure sativa cultivars, with Africa supposedly having the highest content. That information is probably not 100% accurate. I did find thcv in a veg leaf test on Afropip's mini malawi. Haven't tested the flowers yet and it definitely comes with a mid to high thc level.

There are fiber cultivars that display incredibly low thc levels. You could possibly cross one of those and a high (5 to 10%) thcv plant and explore the progeny. Large populations.

I am not sure if Doug's varin is a legit claim or not. I've never seen tests but have been told it doesn't have high levels, like 3% thcv. It has been around for years so if it was signifigant one would think it would have been bred up by now.
Edit: oh wow its its own brand now, thanks commercialization. The website is godawful...
They list it as a 1:1 and non psychoactive. Maybe cbd to thcv? For 28% thcv pens hmm, I would guess its not higher than 10% thcv

Cannabis lab credentials come from a box of cracker jack.. A free box of generic carmel popcorn actually. Boxes handed out by goons at a corporate duck sicking party. Everyone in this industry is a gatekeeper whether by design or ignorance.
