Is it possible to inoculate jars (pf tek) without having a pressure cooker to sterilize? can I just boil the jars for a long time?

Thanks for the quick reply. How long do I let them cool before I can inoculate, and is there a specific moisture level i need to get the jars to?

overnight works good i find  And if you follow the directions, the moisture level should be right where it needs to be

If you plan on getting any deeper into growing any type of mushrooms, or doing anything for yourself, a pressure cooker is your best friend.

That and a glove box (or flow hood). I went from all contamination to (practically) none. Plus I can cook beans and potatoes in no time!

There is no substitute for a PC and proper sterilized methods. H2O2 is used to fight mold at the fruiting stage but not for sterilization. H2O2 also hinders mycelium so it is not recommended.

For the PF-Tek, you can get away with not having a PC but it is highly recommended. Chek out this video, a must buy: http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek
