I was wondering the same thing. I think it was, "I'm retracting my statement" gesture. I can commend him for being civil?
The point was that I don't feel comfortable disclosing my location to almost complete strangers and when they get kind of pushy in a "nice" way it annoys me. I just wanted to say what I said. I am over it now.

I wouldn't call someone wondering what state you're from as prying if you've conversed with the person a while. But if someone starts prying for the name of the city/village you live in then things should start getting suspicious. If you're dense enough to tell them the City you live in and then they start asking questions regarding what type of businesses or stores are near your house then you better know something is up.
