it may not be a great bill w/ alot of freedoms, but fit's a step in the right direction.

This bill sucks, state run dispensaries, no home growing, they are setting up big lobbiers to take over and make a few very rich.....
I'd much rather have 600 dispensaries competing, than 6 monopolies...

As I understand it, the state is starting out with 2 dispensaries up north, 2 central, and 2 in southern NJ - which will all be non-profit centers. After a certain amount of time other centers will be allowed to open, both for profit and non-profit. The state is starting out with 6 and then going from there I guess, rather than allowing a free for all. So in time they will be allowed to expand.
2oz is nice, but I'd rather see 1oz and 6 plants go through. I guess if you can't grow your own, you better be able to stock up so you don't have to run out to the "store" every week or so.
I'm guessing it's going to be a long while before home growing is allowed. Any resistance will be met with "well, lets see how this 6 state run dispensary system works before we consider amending the bill."
I hope PA doesn't fuck up this bad.

I'm up in the air now about DC. I met Wayne Turner, I-59's author last night and he says Congress can take it away anytime they like. I had thought that worry was going to be once a year at appropriations time. Then there's the thing that the DC City Council can change it all to suit themselves.

Its by no means a perfect bill, but atleast we have safe access to our medicine. It may not be as lenient as cal, but its jersey's laws and we have to live with them for now.
I was incarserated, turned into a criminal and made out to be some sort of child abuser because of the therapies i chose for my own health and well being, so i am glad we are atleast on the right track. Sure, im pissed-off i cant cultivate my own medicine but its better than the alternative i think...
We need to find the details behind the bill..
where do the ATC's get there “reasonable initial and ongoing inventory” and what the quality will ultimately be..

MD doesn't have a medical MJ law - it's still 100% illegal
don't believe everything you read in MPP's fundraising letters. Vermont is one of their "medical marijuana" states - but after 5+ years only 300 people are protected by the law! Out of a half million people.
I know many people in VT who use herb for serious stuff like migraines and cluster headaches that disable them from work. They just laugh when I ask why they're not medical MJ patients. It's much easier to just buy it from friends then to jump through all the hoops in MPP's law.
300 people out of a half million? That's a shitty law, if it's goal was to protect sick people. There's one hell of a lot more than 300 sick people using cannabis in VT. Probably more like 50,000-100,000.
NY seems to be using NJ as a template for MMJ, maybe very soon

Delaware should pass SB 94 hopefully it already passed the senate with no opposition .... The bill says your allowed to grow up to 12 plants and posses up to 6 ounces...wooohoo!!!

Wrong. MD DOES have a mmj law AND it's still illegal. Patients that are arrested can use a mmj defense, but they still face a $100 fine and criminal record.
Organizers are meeting tonite in B'more to kick off the campaign to change the law. We gotta start including language that recognizes patients rights as they travel among the mmj states in the east. Gonna be much more of an issue here than in the west.
If that's true, then Massachusetts also has a medical MJ law from 1991. Of course, it doesn't do shit either.
That is really great news about Delaware - glad to hear the bill there has not been molested!
wouldn't that fall under Federal laws? as long as MMJ is illegal to the Feds, transporting meds between states legally just isn't happening no matter what any state says. What they should do is at least make it so patients from one state can be valid in another state as long as they have their rec/ID card or whatever. I can fill my script at any CVS, Walgreens, etc why make it any different for this?

Not transporting meds, just being able to obtain meds when they travel. We're talking about the same thing.
One of the issues at DC PAC meetings is the issue of reciprocity for patients. Some are concerned that DC could be seen as 'Amsterdam on the Potomac". However, being a city where something like 2 of every 3 people is from 'out of town' I think it's very important that patients from other places be protected while 'in town'. But even if the DC City Council ok's protection for foreigners, is it realistic to expect those in the distribution chain to honor a CA recommendation? How would a DC dispensary make sure my OCBC card isn't a forgery?
